I want to upgrade my whole brake system including Fluid, lines, calipers, rotors and pads all around. The pads and rotors needs to be replaced anyway so this is a perfect time :thumb: .

Here's what I've decided on so far.
AWD dual piston caliper upgrade to the front. (looking to buy these btw)
Drilled and slotted rotors all around
SS brake lines all around

Where's the best place to buy drilled and slotted rotors from? I've used r1concepts on my 8g Galant but I'm wondering if there's a better place for 2gs.

What type of pads are best? I want something that doesn't produce a lot of brake dust. What SS brake lines would you guys recommend?

I also want to replace all the brake fluid with high performance fluid. What fluid should I use and how much do I need to buy? To drain all the fluid do I just keep bleeding from from line until there's no more left or is there a correct way to do this?

I also want to do this fairly cheap but I want a lot more braking power.

For the calipers and brackets, send this guy a PM. I think he has a few sets. (just bought a set from him and he's a great guy to work with).

For rotors, check out Brake Performance. Lifetime guarantee, free shipping, free set of pads (cheap), full coatings, good customer service, decent prices.

As for the lines, I think I bought mine from ExtremePSI a year or so ago. I'll double check that and edit this post.

For pads, I'm leaning towards Hawk HP+ for the fronts, and probably some EBC's on the back, but I'm not quite sure yet. My car is a street car that will see some track time.

EDIT:

Yep...lines came from ExtremePSI

I was leaning to Hawk hp pads for my Galant before and I decided against them as people said they have extreme amounts of brake dust (like coating the wheels black). Although if they do offer the best stopping power I can live with the dust.

Edit: Are the rotors and pads the same for the AWD and FWD cars? Or should I be selecting awd for the fronts and fwd for the rear?

Are the pads that come for free with the rotors any good? Is it worth it to get the premium rotors over the standard drilled/slotted?

It depends what calipers you are using. If you switch to AWD calipers (93+ and later; earlier years are smaller and single piston), then you'll need to order rotors for those calipers. I'm not sure if the FWD rotors are the same diameter as the AWD's.

The free pads are just basic semi-metallic pads. About the same thing you would find in a parts store...adequate, but not great.

A few years back it was pretty common for aftermarket rotors that were drilled all the way through to crack. Modern manufacturing and materials have lessened that somewhat, but it is still advisable to go with dimpled instead of drilled if you need additional heat dissipation.

For the absolute best performance, most people go with slotted only and no drills or dimples. It provides the maximum surface area on the rotor for the pads to grab, along with channels for removing dust and water, and helping some with cooling.

The rotors on the awd are about an inch bigger than the fwd in the front, and in the rear the calipers and rotors are the same for the awd and fwd. So if you order the AWD you will be good the the fronts and rears.

I've been known to be EXTREMELY hard on the brakes of my daily drivers (What ever they may be). I only use "premium" rotors as I warp the cheap ones very quickly. I have only used one set of upgraded brake pads so far (soon to be 2 now that I have a DSM). The pads were EBC Green Stuffs.

They were on a 2000 Caddilac STS with monroe premium rotors (plain, but they won't warp). Green Stuffs are a GREAT street pad. Low dust, GREAT bite when cold, and they had no issues stopping that boat from 130 mph to 0. Stopping from 70mph could be done VERY fast for an STS.

The best part for me? New Cheap pads for that car were about 120 CAN$ per set. EBC Greens were only $100/set :D

Another thought...Does your car happen to have the vented rear rotors? A very select few '95 models were lucky enough to have them...the rest are solid.

Regardless, I would just rebuild the rear calipers you have (if needed) and put new rotors and pads on it. There really isn't a need to upgrade the rears, and not a whole lot of options available anyway.

i'm about to install my upgraded braking system. I'm going with GSX front/rear calipers, SS lines from RRE, EBC slotted/dimples rotors, and just Duralast Gold pads and then a GSX master cylinder to use the brakes to their full potential.

I was planning on keeping my rear calipers. Are the awd and fwd rear calipers the same? I thought they were but by the sounds of it they're not.

I also am going with the Techna-fit SS brake lines from Extremepsi seeing as they're on sale for $80.

I just purchased the Russell brake lines from STM and I'm going with the EVO brembo system. The AWD brakes are nice, but the Brembos will be a little better.
