Will these work on a stock setup.Just got new comp cam 272 what kinda difference will I notice.

Yes you can use them with stock springs. I had thoughs cams with a 50 trim and it pulled very nicely. :thumb:

I am using these cams with all stock head parts. Idle great and pull all the way to redline and past without a problem. Great cams.

Ok thanks I was just wondering what to expect I'm changing timing belt figured I would throw some cams in.

What kinda bolt ons you talkin ab I'm buying gm maft and translator.I have greddy bov BR boost comtroller

You might want to think about upgrading the fuel system, as those cams are going to require more fuel. And then comes tuning the new fuel system. And to really put those cams to good use you will want a bigger turbo.

I'm trying to do all maintence to the car only reason I bought cams is cause I would have timing belt off already I guess imma sell FP intake n 2g maf since I'm goin gm route I installed autometer egt gauge n that was a big fail not reading nothin

Cams aren't really a "while you're at it" kind of mod. In fact, cams should be purchased last based on the rest of your setup so you select the correct type of cam profile for your build. For instance, you wouldn't want to select a set of 288's if you're running 15psi on a 16G-powered street car because you'll never reach an RPM where a cam that aggressive would be useful.

With that in mind, the only thing cams are going to do for a stock car is make the idle a little more aggressive and ruin your low-end torque because the rest of your setup is not geared toward aftermarket cams airflow-wise. That money would be better-spent on many other supporting mods which would come prior to purchasing cams.

If the aggressive idle is all you're after, buy a set of adjustable cam gears, install them on your stock cams, and tune a little overlap into the stock cams.

Couldn't have said it any better.

Save the cams for later, wait till you have a ~bigger turbo and fuel support (etc), then put in the cams. You'll be much happier.

I know what your talking about I kinda got a great deal on these thats why i jumped on it but thanks for the info i do appreciate it.I have one more Q for you I have a leak on the timing belt side some where i thought it was cam seals but seems to be further down the engine any gaskets i should know about? thanks for your responses

The only other oil seals on that side of the engine are the crank seal, oil pump seal, and front balance shaft seal. If it's high enough that you think it may be the cam seals, it's most likely a cam seal leaking. Do NOT re-use cam seals if you're swapping cams or you'll be doing this all over again to change them after the swap.
