I have a pretty bad vacuum leak as my 95 gst often stalls when I throw it in to neutral when Im still rolling. It is also very sporadic at idle and nearly dies when stopped for long periods of time. So my question is does anyone know of where all the vacuum leaks run in the engine bay or is there a diagram that can show me this? thanks

I was also wondering if anyone knew of a reputable DSM mechanic/tuner in the Tampa area??

There is no common area we all have different ones i have had several do a boost leak test to verify where its leaking, no way around it to find your leaks. Other problems your having could be just about anything else.

Here you go:

I also suggest a boost leak test.

If u have access to a smoke machine, use it ### they do wonders! Disconnect the tube off the throttle body elbow. Put the cone from the smoke machine on the TB elbow & block off the pcv hose to check for intake leaks. & put the cone on the intake tube, that you disconnected, & block off the maf sensor to check for boost leaks.

Or just build a boost leak tester that pressurizes the system. Smoke machines don't actually put pressure in the system. You will never find all your boost leaks with a smoke machine.

Just a side mention but I had same issue ran fine but when I took it to neutral or let it idle for a few minutes it would die.

Did 2 things. Cleaned my maf sensor plug and changed my o2 sensor. O2 sensor seemed to have fixed the idle. Maf cleaning seemed to fix the dying from going to neutral. But the combination of them both fixed it 100%

thanks for all the replies guys, Im definitely gonna use your advice!

i just found out that my intake manifold has a small crack in it, could that be my issue as well?

Put it this way, Any leak in any way shape or form. Will cause idling and running issues in general. Again, ANY bit of a leak could cause the car to run incorrectly.

Get yourself a new intake manifold. All the gaskets for it, some RTV and start wrenching. I mean all the gaskets too. Turbo to IC piping. Throttle body, etc etc. Everything.

Vacuum lines to be safe: RRE's Larson Silicone Hose Kit

Replace all of your vacuum lines if you feel up to it. It's cheap and yours are 17 years old.

Leaks are cancer here. Except we have a cure for leaks.

Leaks at couplers from crappy clamps, TB shaft leaks, TB gasket leaks, BOV gasket leaks, IM leaks from poorly fitting Vac lines, IM gasket.

The list is endless.

Boost leak test using the turbo intake location.

After you fix all the leaks you can hear then use soapy water, you will find more.

Throttle body is the most likely part to leak imo.
