Common for timing lights to go bad?

Is it a common thing for timing lights to go bad or be inaacurate? Timing light says its spot on mmcd says otherwise.... Using a craftsman timing light from I'm guessing late 80's early 90's... Lol I know time to upgrade anyway just curious though...

30 years! how old are you Craig? haha just messing around, but my timing light has been working great on mulitiple dsms for the last two years.

If you're concerned about the reliability of your timing light you can always rent a newer one from a parts store. I've never heard of a timing light going bad though.
