well guys, im pretty excited, its been WAY too long since i've driven my baby...school is done in two days so i plan on having her up and running for the summer...

but of course i have questions...

1. I have my new coilovers, previous owner heated and hacked the stock springs (I cant handle the boucing and bottoming out ANYMORE), I have the Haynes Manual, I plan on using that to install the new coilovers, any advice is greatly appreciated. This will be the first time i've personally worked on a suspension.

2. During the off season (winter), I completed almost all of my tasks...new vaccume lines, valve cover gasket, MBC ( i was way over boosting), and the short throw shifter.
- I still need to install my head to exhaust manifold gasket, manifold to turbo gasket and my 3" catback exhaust. Now the car hasn't been started in maybe 6 to 8 months, is there anything you guys think I should do before turning the key?

I would go through and checkk all your fluids. the turn the key a couple of times without starting the car so the oil pump can prime things up. then give her a start.

I think you mean fuel pump, the oil pump is mechanically driven and can not send oil unless the engine is rotating, or you rotate the pump itself.

if you take out the MPI fuse on the positive bat. termnal, you can crank the motor and it will prime the oil pump.

you can take a wrench to the balancer and spin it by hand, or take out the fuse like stated above, and when you turn the key hold it for 8 secs, then wait for 30 secs (do this 3 times) Also pump out the old gas before you start it, i used an old holly fuel pump and hooked it up to a spare battery. I had to take the hose that plugs directly into the gas tank off, and stick the small spare fuel pump hose in and it sucked it all out.

To prime the oiling systems you need to take out the MPI fuse. Then you get in the car and crank the engine like you are going to start it. The starter motor will rotate the engine and no fuel will be going to the cylinders so it will not fire up. After a few times replace the fuse and start it up.

before putting her away i threw in some gas treatment, so the 3/4 tank i have of 93 octane BETTER be ok, LOL...3.86 for 93 is going to kill me this summer...

so i got the fuse idea, crank her over...do this, do that, check/change my fluids...jumpstart the car...anything im forgetting?

Anyone have any coilover advice? haha

Make sure you rent a strut spring compressor when you take off the OEM springs. You can rent them at any auto parts store. Also what coil overs are you putting on and were did you buy them?

Your coil overs are just springs and sleeves wright? not a fully assembled strut and spring. If it is just the springs then you need to take the top plate of the shock/strut off, and the spring and strut still have a hundred pounds of force pushing on the top plate so if the spring is not compressed then when you take the top plat off of the strut/shock then the spring will fly up and hit you.

yeah, its just the coilover and sleeve...sorry, i tight on cash...

well that doesnt sound like fun...at all...hmmm to take a spring to the face or to not take a spring to the face...looks like ill be renting one of those...

you can rent them for around 40 bucks at autozone but you will get it back once you return it. or another way to do it is stand on the spring while its on the ground and release the top bolt that way. the strut will shoot back some and what not but alot less dangerous...LOL j/k just get the compressor cause I seen a co worker almost loose a finger doing it that way...hehe
