You will have to build a plate to bolt them to but yes they should work. You do know the COP setup is not as efficient as the stock ignition system correct?

Yes i know that but it is cleaner looking and that is with out a CDI. But i plan on running one. Any suggestion on a good one? I'll have all the stock stuff so if i don't like it ill change back. I also picked up a plug that way i don't have to cut the one on the stock system.

It's a bad idea using coil-on-pack setup with no CDI. It will hurt your performance and the throttle response. There are several forums on coil-on-plug you should look into. Plus you're all stock, this is the last thing you should do. Stock ignition is good for 500 hp.

What good thing to go with? And seriously it will not only hurt your performance it'll hurt the engine.

A good CDI to go with plus I'm not all stock I'm rebuilding my car right now and going with a t35 setup. Going to be a little tell i get the body work done but I'm pulling the engine and rebuilding that will i paint the engine compartment. Going for a goal of about 450 to 500hp. so i'm just getting stuff in order so when i do run the COP setup ill have every thing right. Could some on suggest a good CDI? Please Stop telling me how bad it is i have read mostly ever COP thread and i know about what is dose unless your running COP w/CDI and can prove that it is bad for you car dont say anything about it!!!!

dynatec arc2. cheap and very efficient. dual spark capability good up to ~6500rpm. Great on a stroker, not so grand on a high revving 2.0 though(from what I have heard).

correction:

re-spark good until 4500rpm

It can be found here from extreme psi:
EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts - Dynatek ARC-2 CDI: Mitsubishi Eclipse 95-99

1gDSM4g63 has a good point about the stock ignition though. If your shooting for the stars then it comes down to your preference. I did it to mine because I had the extra money to do it. As far as it being more effective....Im sure it has its ups and downs just like everything.

I understand that but i like the looks and the idea of a COP Im going with a Dynatek ARC-2 and COP setup i have seen and heard good thing about it with the COP. the COP is just as controversial as crankwalk on a 7 bolt being more likely. I understand what im doing when it comes to the COP I know the way they are wired make them less efficient at high RPM's but i want to go with a COP set i Have all the parts i need for it for $20 just need a plate to bolt it to and ill be good. I would love to run a Standalone so i could run a 4 channel setup vs. the two channel but i dont want the hassle of the standalone and $2k i can spend else where. So im going to be running DSMlink V3 with a Dynatek ARC-2 w/COP it is my opinion on running the setup so please stop telling me the con's of a COP setup. Im just asking if the the coils i have would work. I can not see right now if they would fit because my car is in a body shop right now. I wanted to know if could use them or have to take them back and get the one's that every one else has with the one bolt on the bottom and one by the pigtail.

As I have been telling, coil-on-pack setup isn't that easy? Besides the setup you got to tuning with perfection. Most people that have 500 hp+ only go with a CDI ignition just because that does that job.

You're jump ahead, I suggested you check the TECH - upgrade path first and all of the questions can be found in the FORUMS. If you're shooting of 400 - 450 hp you don't need a coil-on-pack setup or even a CDI ignition or even rebuilding your block. The stock block will hold that much power.

I'm going with the COP w/CDI. Im going with a engine build because im going to be running a turbo rated for 400 to 600hp. mostly i want the safety of a built engine and i want 9:1 pistons. there is a range that the stock block is good for but that range can be 100HP +/- deepening on a lot of factors. Just because your block my be good for running 450hp day-to-day someone else my only hold 375hp just because of the way the engine was maintained. Or factors if something was fall and yo are running 400 hp on your stoke block and you where tuning and mad a mistake and was running to lean or a sensor goes out and misses stuff up in your ecu what happens to your block BOOM!!!! Fried pistons bent rods stuff that is not good. with that much hp on stock there is less room for error.

Okay, you asked for recommendations or I'm tell you don't need coil-on-pack. I'm just trying to explain to you. Look at what andy4g63 wrote, it's not that easy to coil-on-pack. If you would just look at other forums you know what it like going to coil-on-pack. With that aside, I wish to the best of luck just for 600 hp because it's not the easy thing to do if you got a built engine.

Ok the suggest some good upgrades for the stock system.

I agree also. I've found that both the primary windings, and secondary windings, sitting on top of a pretty hot engine isn't a real smart area to place them. That is unless you just want it too look good.

Them things get hot the windings open up the resistance goes waay up. Primary goes way down. The engineers did a pretty good job hiding them on the back side of the engine under the intake, which is far away from the any of the major heat from the exhaust side of the engine. Big ups to Mits. engineers. :applause:Thats just from my experience though.

Ok lets make this loud and clear.. I am running 25 psi on my stock ignition system running used 70k mile intrepid coils and im gapped at .028 and i have ZERO misses all the way to 7500... I ran this exact set up at the shootout and ran 12.9 in 100+ degree heat... It is not that big if at all a downgrade.. My coils or my plug wires were going out before and i could only run MAYBE 17 psi without breaking up and i gapped my plugs down to .025 and it still missed BIG time... Not one single problem with this COP set up.. I went from 20 miles to the gallon to 28 by switching over. MY spool has actually increased and my A/F have leveled out to a smaller range. I bounce from 14.5-15.6 when cruising as before it was erratic ass hell... Ya im going to get a dynatek ARC ingintion system when i get my hx40 and stroker build done but so far i have ran 2 different COP setup and both performed exactly the same for me... PERFECT..

O ya BTW.. I made my COP set up for nothing.. I took the coils from the junkyard with the plugs.. The dsmgraveyard hooked me up with a solid plate.. I cut the holes at work and then wired them up via the tech section... I cut the plug off my AC condensor since it was broken so i could still drive my car and finish the wiring to a plug and play status... WA LA zero dollar COP set up..

thank you my COP Is only costing me $20 but from what i have been hearing i didn't want to run on stock stuff but finely someone with some prof that all the stuff people say can be BS just because something happens to one person dose not many it will happen to everyone. could you tell me the right way to wire them up for a 97 i know that it is different then the 95 - 96 from what i hear.

just because something happens to one person dose not many it will happen to everyone

And just because it works for one person doesn't mean it will work for everyone.

It sounds like viper had a problem with his ignition system and didn't go about properly addressing the issue and fixing it. I could be wrong, but I have heard of many bad stories about stock ignition with COP. Yes, there are a few that can run it, but my guess is that they had something wrong before they installed the COP, so they thought it was running better.

But go for it and post up your results.

What about with A CDI with COP?
