So I've done some searching and all I can find is how to make, and why to use them..

So I got a COP setup for x-mas from my Parents. My Laser is a 1990. The COP set up says for 91-99 DSM. Will I have to wire up anything else differently? Will it still work?

Thanks, Mike

No, 90's have a different plug from the rest, it is square-ish, as where every other year is a triangle. It has to do with the tach signal wire. They are not the same, here is a link that is helpful if you are wanting to switch over.

converting a 1990 to a 1991-1994 ecu system

Edit: There may be other ways of doing it, I'm not sure, haven't messed with 90 ECU's at all.

my soil packs blew on me a few months back, so i did what i always do...i upgraded. i gapped my plaugs to 25-26 and i bought some 300m coils and made myself a kit. i noticed a little pickup difference and less poping from the exhaust. also a little smother idle with no cdi installed

What's the advantage of converting a 4G63 motor to this COP setup? I've seen picts of some motors with this mod.

There is no real "advantage" so to speak. It cleans up the engine bay clutter, the spark is a little better since it doesn't have to go through a foot of wire to get to the plug, and they're pretty easy to make.

You will have to remove the tach adapter and connector off the 90 coil pack and wire it into the COP setup. COP setups don't work very well without an ignition amplifier like a MSD or Dynatek, you will most likely get spark blow out(ignition breakup) at higher rpm's.

I am also now thinking of converting my ingition system over to 91+. I have the little adapter already made and an Eprom ECU waiting for me.

This would make this set up 'plug and play' after I swap it over correct?
