My valve cover gasket has been leaking oil and it seemed to get on my wiring and onto my fuel injectors. Doesn’t seem to be fuel since I did a smell test and it was fuel smell free. But my question is that if I am getting code P0204 for a cylinder 4 injector circuit malfunction, can oil be a cause?

Wasn’t seeing much for answers unless I was searching wrong. Also I don’t have any of the tools ATM for checking like a circuit test light so was wondering if anyone had an easy way to check if my injector may be bad. Oil did get on wiring but I’ve read cylinder 4 is on the far left if you are at the front of car and there is barely any oil on them compared to others, like cylinder 1’s.

Just wanted some thoughts on tests before I go buy a new set of injectors. Will be getting a valve cover gasket replacement kit as well so hopefully that will fix the leak. I can also show pictures of what everything looks like tomorrow when it’s not night time. Also gonna try to see if I can see any leaks from my fuel rail just in case even though I don’t smell fuel.

Cylinder 1 is closest to the crank pulley, meaning cylinder 4 is farthest and near transmission. If you think there's oil in the connector, disconnect it and clean it out with brake parts cleaner or carb cleaner. I'd do it for all of them. Need to get that oil leak fixed too.

I wouldn't place bets on that being the issue though. Not impossible but unlikely. Connectors get oily all the time and usually don't cause connection issues unless it's pooled inside and acting as a jumper from pin to pin. Start there and check back. If your injector was going bad you'd probably have a misfire. Does it seem to be misfiring?

Sounds good I’ll get those cleaned.

There is some oil around the fuel injectors as well so will try cleaning them off and the inside. Not exactly sure if it’s misfiring at all, didn’t see any black smoke and for what I remember idle seemed fine, but startup is rough for sure after not using it for a bit (takes usually 2-3 times to start) unless it’s been started already then it starts up fine if I turn it off then back on.

Is there a good way to check for one?

And can’t tell I’m if running rich or lean yet since I haven’t been able to get my wideband installed. Was going too this weekend
