Ok, so i just attempted my first ever clutch job. Everything seems to have went smoothly except for the fact that the clutch wont disengage fully and it is disengaging right off the floor. Ive tried bleeding the clutch for almost 2 entire bottles of fluid and still feels like theres air in the lines or maybe the pedal needs adjusted. I did notcie that the master cylinder doesnt seem to change anything at all even though i twist the rod alot of times either way. Its a new master but i though maybe it might be faulty again. Before i take it to a shop i though i might see if anyone on here had any opinions. Thanks.

if it matters at all its stock flywheel and f1 racing clutch and pressure plate stage 2. slave and master are both recently new. (less than 3000 miles) and has a stainless steel clutch line from slave.

Having air in the system will give it a spongy feel, air compresses, does you clutch still feels that way? if its a firm pressure then I would stop worrying about bleeding the system over and over again.

you didn't mention anything about replacing the throwout bearing, did you? I am assuming you did since it seems you got a clutch kit.

How about the clutch fork, what condition as that in when you took the trans off? did you replace it?

The pedal needs adjusted, if you've bled the hydraulic system then bleeding it again isn't going to do anything. Watch this video and listen closely to what Jack is saying, it took me a few times of watching it to really understand what he was saying but once you do you'll understand HOW/WHY to adjust the clutch pedal.

yea i did replace the throw out bearing and the clutch fork was in good condition. And gofer ive seen the video and tried that but no matter how far i turn the rod i cant get the slave to get to hard to push with my thumb. Im lost right now LOL. and the clutch has pressure, but it just doesnt feel like theres enough like other dsm's ive drove.

Did you replace or shim the pivot ball? Here's a good write-up from TRE that you might want to read, it gives you something to check too.

How and Why To Shim the Pivot Ball

You live about 25 miles away from Shep, maybe setting up an appt. with them to take a look at it might be a good idea if you can't figure this one out. I wish I was that lucky whenever I've had tranny issues.

Thanks, that deffinately seems like something I might have to do LOL. I know I'm lucky enough to live right by buchur and shep LOL. I'm gonna try the local tranny shop first tho since its closer and see what they have to say.

There is also an extended rod you can purchase. Just be sure whatever you do there is free-play in the pedal at rest or else you will be putting constant pressure on your clutch and that is mucho bado.

yea there is free play but i think there is too much and thats why its not fullly disengaging. i also noticed what seems like a grinding noise coming from the tranny even when the car is in neutral with the clutch out or with the clutch in. its not loud but it is constant and is more of a scraping than a grinding i suppose. i think the clutch might be dragging but i dont wanna mess with it till i have a shop look at it so i dont ruin the new cltuch. i just hope since its my first clutch job ( which just so happens that it was AWD :banghead:) that i didnt do anything wrong.

Well the scraping definately adds a new twist and now you probably are going to be getting back into it. If it wasn't making the noise before the clutch job, I doubt it's an actual problem with the transmismission . The good thing is that if something is scraping you are definately going to see it when you look at the parts.

Yea I think I'm going to have to take it all apart again :( the only part that worries me is I was barely able to get the trans back in last time. Such a pain to do. Other than that is there any suggestions on what might be causing it? I'm embarrased to say but I did absolutely nothing with the flywheel except some sand paper and it diid have a good ammount of burn marks on it but seemed pretty even. I was going to get it machined or replaced but money and time was a big issue.

Anyways it was my first transmission job ever so I can't be too hard on myself but just want to know what to look for this time around. Ill keep posted and have pics when I get around to it probably here in a weekend or two. Thanks again guys.

Not to bring this post back, but i promised the follow up and it seemed to be that the clutch was at fault. I put in a stock replacement from Autozone ( i know it's stupid :ohdamn:, and yes its slipping under full boost but i had to get it running till i can get my Fidanzna) and it now disengages as it should. The only thing I'm scared of is that I'm going to put in a Fidanza and have the same problem so i was wondering if i added some shims to be safe if that would stop any potential problems.
