I installed an Aimco XTD Clutch with a 2300 Pressure plate and a street disc. I fired up the car and it was really hard to get it in gear. I had to press the clutch Pedal ALL the way to the floor and try to push it through the floor for it to allow the gears to go in. How do I fix this problem?

As Soon as I let off the clutch the slightest bit...its like i am popping the clutch.

Did you bleed the clutch? Check your master and slave cylinder and see if they are leaking. And with a new clutch its goin to take like 500 miles to break it in but it shouldnt be that hard to get it into gear. I would rebleed the clutch.:talon:

Also did you try clutch pedal adjustment?

I did bleed the clutch...The pedal is pretty stiff. No I did not try the pedal adjustment...How do I do that? Is it possible to be that far off? like i literally have less than an inch o play in my pedal...Like if i let off an inch from the floor it engages to the flywheel... and almost stalls. its retarded.

after adjusting my clutch pedal...Still no help...Any ideas? the guy working on the car said the slave may be leaking SLIGHTLY... like at the brass washers.. could that #### it up that bad

Thats possible. Did you check to see if its leaking? If so, I'd put my money on that being the problem.

well ok, we tightened it up and its still doing the same thing but a LITTLE better...I bought an Extended rod today...It should be here around friday....I dunno what else it could be. Again the clutch is a 2300. Not stock

If there is a leak on the slave some were your not fully disengaging the clutch, the extended rod will help but won't fix the problem at hand. Try to pin point the leak and fix it and that should fix the problem.

leak is gone. :D

i had the same problem and the clutch extension rod did not help, i ended up buying a new clutch fork/pivot ball and shimming the pivot ball by 2 washers, but try to make that ## last ditch effort since u have to drop the trans to install the pivotball/clutch fork, prior to that i replaced everything, slave, master, etc. good luck man hope u dont have to get a clutchfork/pivot ball

where can I get this extended clutch fork/Pivot ball? How much did it cost? I replaced the slave, master, and I just ordered the extension rod. So hopefully that works...I really dont wanna drop the tranny AGAIN! but I guess we will see.

worst case you drop it, and use a new pivot ball/ fork AND a washer. I did this after I installed my ACT flywheel/clutch combo because of the exact same things, end up with a new slave and master then finally dropped it and fixed it right.

When you install new clutch and flywheel parts they have more meat on them because of no wear and tear, add in an old clutch fork which wears on three separate locations plus the pivot ball and BAM. Not enough to disengage even with full adjustment out. I never did try the extended slave rod, then again I didn't look.

I had the same problem. After the extended rod. Replacing the main and slave cylinder. I ended up ripping out the extended rod having to drop the tranny and shim the pivot ball with two washers. It works great. But i would recommend replacing the fork and ball.
