well I just got my hard UICP, Maf and translator and was all set to install it... But my car seems to have other ideas. if I hit boost my clutch slips. If i just floor it my car wil pul untill I hit 7psi boost and then it starts to stop pulling even though my rpm goes up faster to 5k. I held it there like a dumbazz adn it finaly caught up, but I left a nice cloud of smoke and could smell the darn thing burning. OOPs. I am 99.99% sure it has to be changed out, but on the slight chance that there is some sort of fancy schmanzy adjustment doo-dad I though I would post here first.

The local satanic dealership quoted me 390 labor for the swap, an additional 60 to re-surface the flywheel, and 300 for the clutch kit. Does this sound right?

My car is not going to see monster HP, heck I doubt I ever really mod it much, maybe a 16g someday.... I would like to, but I got a wife and two kids. Not a lot of money to put into my toy. that and my commute is 96 miles one way right now... I need reliable as a rock, and good milage. Hey 24-26miles per gallon is goodenough for me any way.

So I was thinking tha tOEM would be fine for me. I can get the Exedy kit off Ebay for 100-180. is this better than stock? or is it the same? If I can get it myself for less than the shop is gong to charge me I think I might do that., I just dont really want to get something worse than stock.

ideas? thoughts?

I am in the same shoes as you, and it sucks. Dealer quoted me for $990 or "only" $660 if I provided the parts. Other shop wanted $550 if I had all the parts, it sucks probably will have to end up doing it myself unless I can find it for cheaper. :notgood:

I checked the Vfaq about changing it out myself, and I just dont have the tools to drop my tranny here at the house. looks like my dealership is cheaper than yours though. Hopefully I can get the money together in about a month. till then, I have to drive my wifes LeBaron. Ugh....
