I am having a strange problem with my 95 GSX, my clutch only slips when I launch it off the two step. It holds fine with no slipping if i take of normally, and holds fine wot through all the gears even using the NLTS it doesnt slip, only on launches. I have even tried almost dumping the clutch to make sure I wasn't just letting it out too slow and it still slips bad. It is a brand new ebay stage 3 puck clutch, could the flywheel friction surface being worn cause the slipping? It is a fidanza lightened flywheel I got used from a friend. I am trying to get it figured out it sucks having the advantage of awd and not being able to use it from a stop.

How new is the clutch/flywheel? I know my ACT clutch slipped in the breaking in period but held up ever since.

It was put in towards the middle of summer, so it has been past the break in point. The flywheel has been in the car for over a year and a half, and it was used for an unknown amount of time when I got it originally. It holds fine even if I strike it from a first gear roll, just two step launches cause it to slip.

i see two possible problems

1. an Ebay clutch, what hp is it rated at?

2. a used FW and im sure you did put a new friction surface on it. so that means it was out of spec when you put it on

I have heard mixed reviews on the ebay clutches though alot of people praise them. I did the install with an oem TOB, and it holds under pretty much every type of load I can throw at it besides launching. It is the F1 stage three clutch, I don't remember the power rating on it. I am running 27psi on a td05 20g, with some nights at 30psi and it pulls solid through the gears. As for the flywheel i made the mistake of putting it in without installing a new friction surface first, It is just weird that it only slips when launching.

Hey guys, hoping someone can shed some light on my issue here.

South Bend clutch SS series pp and TZ/FE friction disc. third one down > TMZ Performance

26 psi on a hx35, stock trans.. Stock flywheel (in spec when installed.) And fork is right in the middle of the "window" thing. Ive also looked at the clutch pedal assembly, it isnt worn or working improperly. Also master and slave are less than a year old.

Issue is the last week or so I've been dialing the car in. Numerous pulls on the street and the clutch holds.. Few test launches and 1-4 pulls held great.. Go to the track a couple days ago and again tonight and Ive been fighting with my clutch slipping. ONLY on passes I launch the car!!!

The first time it did this I checked my slave cylinder. It was hard and I couldnt push in the slave. So, I adjusted the rod until I could depress it. Next pass I didnt launch the car, pulled great 1-4..

Next pass I thought, "ok, should be all good!!" Launched the car and it started to slip again at the top of 2nd gear and bad in third!

What causes this!!?! And what can I do to help fix it!

Either you are dealing with a clutch that is partially disengaged due to the master cylinder rod too far engaged towards the firewall; or you are exceeding 450tq on a prepped track surface with a full weight car; or you glazed the kevlar friction material from overheating it on your launch technique.

I dont think I am slipping the clutch "that" much on launches.. I mean its held launching on the street, however I have noticed a little wheel spin on the street as well. The SS series pressure plate is a 2200 equivalent correct? Do you think I should try Kennys ACT 2600pp and see if that fixes things? I really didnt think I would be making that kind of torque yet.

I would try the 2600 with it. If the clutch disk is discolored/burnt when you pull it out, scuff the kevlar side with a 400-600 grit sandpaper to break the glaze on the disk before reinstalling it.
