I'm trying to change my clutch master cylinder, and I rounded off the flare nut to the hard line. I'm pretty much screwed at this point, and have the option to beat it off and replace the line, or cut it off and replace the line... however, if if were to dremel off the line as close to the nut as possible, would it be possible to "bend" the line into where it needs to go, flare the end of it, and install a new nut, without installing a whole new line?

I followed the line, and didn't see any junction points, so I think I would have to replace the whole things, and I really don't want to wait for the part, LOL. I can get away without driving tomorrow, but the rest of the week I need the car.

Rent a flare tool from AutoZone. Get the right tool to cut the line too (or take the line off the slave and blow the line out. You'll be surprised at what you find!).

Then you just need a new flare nut. You should be able to do it for under $10-$15.

I can tell whatevers hiding in the lines isn't pretty, the fluid came out all nasty gray, LOL. The seals in my master cylinder were toast. I lost pressure before my new part got in, so temp fixed it by trying to flush out the lines with new fluid, and chunks of rubber came out, LOL.

I'll head to oriellys or AZ tomorrow and get the tool :)

The thing is rusted in bad... I've tried vice grips, heat, flare wrench, it just rounded off with ease... looks like someone at one time replaced the things or something and didn't tighten it enough to let fluid leak out around it.. had the classic brake fluid rust on it.

well cut the line, bought the tool, and got it fixed... it's not pretty, but it works :) I just wish i would have bought a brake line bending tool, LOL... I'm so glad I didn't kink the line though... working in tiny increments to get the right angle but all is well... I'm in the process of bleeding everything now, thank god for vacuum pumps, LOL.

Interesting thing about that one. If you make sure to double check everything, like the Clutch Master Cylinders part there, I'm sure that changing it would definitely work out very well for your vehicle. Hope all is well as you do it.
