So about a year and a half ago i decided i need to upgrade my clutch being as i was running a stock one with over 300HP. So i need alot of research and i decided to go with XTD Stage 4 unsprung 6 puck. Well i had about 3k miles on it and i'm riding down the highway and all the sudden my car stops moving and the car will go in and out of gears without pressing the clutch. So i took it apart and found out the clutch splines stripped in the center of the hub. So i called XTD and then sent me a new one for free. Well couple days later after bout 6 months and 5k miles, it did it again. I dont understand what's going on.

I did a little more research and i seen that someone had said that unsprung disks tend to do that.

So my question is obviously i'm trying to go the cheapest route but dependable route as well. I was debating getting an ACT 6 puck sprung disk and using my XTD stage 4 pplate. I can get the disk for about $100 bucks.

If you guys think i'm going to have problems with it then of course i might just have to throw out the money for a full ACT kit.

Also what about the Fidanza or STG kits?

Personally i would save for a whole new clutch kit. It would help to eleminate any recurring issues witht the xtd kit you have now.

I'm not familiar with XYD but unsprung disks are known to wear on the spline area a lot faster than sprung units. It sounds like they are using inferior materials in the center hub sline area. Maybe it's to keep it from wearing on the trans input shaft but either way with it failing that fast i'd go another route.

Also, I'd say if you're gonna street drive it and put some decent miles on it go with a sprung disk. I would say just toss an ACT disk in there but some clutches aren't interchangable in that way, so it might be best to get the full ACT setup, but get a sprung unit either way
