there was a noise previously when cold there was a squealing that usually went away when i drive it a minute. so now i am diving home and there are more serious noises while on the freeway. it may have something to do with the new sbr differential insert... but it was just installed..maybe wrong? but i really think it has something to do with the clutch because the old noise would be effected by presing the clutch specificly it would go away when i pressed the clutch when first starting the car then when i put it in gear it would squeal after letting the clutch out... i think it is part of the clutch system and not specificly the clutch because i had the clutch replaced about 20000 miles ago when i got a new !engine!... my question is what are other parts of the clutch system that would act like this? theres a clutch plate? or the other side of the clutch? i bought it f'ed up.
stuart:cool:

the only thing is i think if the differential insert was messed up i think it would have been really messed up transmission #@$%.... and the noise was there before and i have had bad axles before and they really tend to get worse the faster i go and only on the freeway for example. I am going to a clutch place tomorrow hopefully.
i think added torque from th lsd insert f'ed up the clutch system some how?
rock on:hellyeah:

your throw out bearing may not be seating properly. i had a similar problem with my old car. when you push the clutch in it would not immediately go away but slowly quieting down within 5 seconds

the clutch guy found metal chunks in the transmission which are from the lsd insert applying pressure to the transmission not how it was designed... he also found the transmission oil to look burned and smell burned
it has not been taken apart yet
yeah take it back to the transmission guy but im far and i dont want to drive it
im looking up trailers now
this is going to be expensive
i am trying to get slow boy racing to pay for this.

Ouch. From what it sounded like, it didn't sound like it would have been in that bad of a mess. I bet the noise is alot different from what I would have imagined it to be. Good luck with your fix.

thank you for the luck
it is not the clutch as i had hoped
i am starting a new thread stuart vs. slowboy racing (SBR LSD insert)
i remember discussion about this part and i was afraid of this happening
and it is my best guess from driving it and the Clutch Mart checking the transmission oil that it is the differential because i remember there being a dip in the road right before i started hearing noise on my way home from picking the car up. Mr shuler and i have been discussing this and i sent an email to everyone they had on the website.. they claim no fault but they would work with me as i suggested on a quaife. if they are not at fault why work with me on the price of a new real limited slip differential.

i have read about these having real problems with wheel hop and sending metal into the transmission. well i did not plan on driving it hard. Mr. Shuler said i "drove the piss out of it" in an email... I did not drive the piss out of it i only drove it home. there was a dip at which i think the open differential wanted to open up and the insert did its thing but there was the wheel hop effect under normal driving conditions. when the part did not break i dont think, but caused damage to my transmission .. they keep incriminating themselves more the more they talk to me...

if any one else has had problems with this you may be able to jump on this case and get ome money from them as well

i am in the process of getting it back to the shop that did the installation to help me out with this which they are cool enough

have fun im doing the same, i killed my trans, just got it built with a spool in the center dif. putting it back together this week. hopefully no problems

Im sorry about the luck youve had, in regards to your email stating that the pins were not pulled from the LSD when installed...well that definately caused your problems. Without those pins pulled it just kind of bounces around in there.

There is some Vfaq articles and im sure theres a few on here about how these or the phantom grips are installed. I would take the neglegence up with the mechanic that did your work. If theres anything else we could do let me know. Id even be willing to talk to the mechanic on your behalf if that would help at all.
