started working on replacing the clutch in my 2g 420a here is the issue I'm currently having the new oem clutch will not sit flush against the flywheel no matter How you put it in the one I removed will sit flush with no issues at all so I was wondering if the previous owner might have swapped out the crank. But my thinking behind that would be no matter What kind of crank is put in it would still hold a OEM clutch right? I've checked out both clutches and they both are identical anyone ran into this issue??

Do you have the disk facing the right way?
Yea everything is the way it's suppose to be it just sits cocked. Flywheel and the shims are on correctly just when I put the new clutch up to it, it will not sit flush I've never had an issue like this. I thought I might have been given the wrong clutch at autozone but I called and confirmed the part number and also match the clutches and they are identical.

Did u use the install tool to line it up correctly and did you tq the pressure plate bolts in the right patern?

I've done everything the Haynes manual said do I'm starting to think there is a minor flaw with the assembly I bought that i haven't spotted. Like I said I can put the old clutch back in with no issues and bolt it in. This has gotten me puzzle. The 420a clutch all comes assembled just blot it on the flywheel and slide the tranny back on is What I'd assume is the correct proceedure since thats how i pulled it apart.

Post a picture of the new vs old clutch, also a pic of the flywheel would help
I think it was just a defective clutch cause I swapped it out with another new clutch, still isn't flush but is a little better. Any suggestions on what oil to put back in the tranny?

I run redline in my Trans, do some quick research and see what the guy are running In you're type of trans as mine Is a turbo model and am not sure what is recommended for type of fluid in a non turbo trans... or if it really matters.
