I have a 90 talon awd I shift from 3 down to 2nd and it'll give out a grind before it slips in. It's shifts slightly easier in lower rpm. Any advice in what the cause is? I want to know if my clutch needs to be replaced unless it's a minor fix that I am overlooking. Any feed back would be great.

If you want to do this all to the 92+ trans, all the double synchro gears should work fine in that model year. Then you can have him machine your 1st gear for the double synchro.

But, I believe Jack has the ability to double synchro 1-4 in the 92+ trans using your old gears. And I'm sure all other top shops do the same thing.

So would my late 91 trans counts as a 92+? I got it at a pick n pull and the car was completely stock, so I assume the output shaft was original.

A friend of mine told me that I would need another intermediate shaft, so I have been looking for a 93-94 AWD trans cause its about the same price for a good used trans as it is for the shaft from Mitsu IIRC.

Damn, I was going to try to do this build myself, but I will need to do more research first. It sounds like a mess trying to get all the parts to work if you don't know what you are doing. At least my tranny is still running fine. (which is actually an '89 JDM VR4 tranny)
