FWIW, the '98 FSM shows the same TPS diagram as gofer posted above -- 4-pin unit where pin 3 runs to ECU pin 87 -- for the 2.4L.

is that I was wrong on the OEM TPS being a 3-wire, it is in fact a 4-wire. But why is there an external IPS as well? The car is a 5-speed from the factory, and was equipped with cruise control. Could the external IPS, which leads to pin 87 on the '64 ECU be to control something other than rolling fuel cut? If thats the case then where does the "said pin 3" of the TPS go? I have a 3-wire TPS in the car right now, which obviously has to be from a 1G?


Possibly a spelling error, but just to be clear...
3-Wire TPS. Not IPS. I clearly know the IPS is a single spade, on/off type switch.
