clicking in front end

91 TSi FWD, makes a clicking noise while turning (sometimes, not all the time). When i first bought the car i knew it needed new tie rod ends, so i changed both of them. while changing the tie rods i noticed the sway bar link on the passenger side was shot, so i bought a new one and installed that and it still clicks! I've looked over everything i can think of in the front end and it all seems good. (ball joints, half-shafts, etc). anybody have a similar problem and find the cure? Or if you have any ideas please let me know, thanks.

My '95 fwd was clicking the same and it was the CV joints. Changed them, fixed problem.

its the cv joint hate to tell u that my 91 n/t cv joints do that if u let it go it gets real bad im getting ready to replace mine....

easiest way is to loosen the axle nut and take off your caliper then disconnect the 2 strut bolts on the hub assembly and turn the assemily and the axle should slide out then get under the car and easily pry the axle out of the tranny with a small pry bar remember to have a drain pan handy for the fluild in the tranny....

If it is the axle shafts, is it worth getting some good aftermarket ones or will the stock replacement ones treat me just fine? I'm not really sure how much modding i will actually be doing, but i know it probably won't be making over 250hp for the next year or so.

Oem should be fine for a daily driver, if you were doing drag pulls daily i could see the point in buying something that you can beat on more. They hardly malfunction anyways. Also, see if you can tell which side the noise is coming from, it may be hard. But you probably want to avoid having to buy two of them if you can.

difinatly front axles. when you turn that will tell you which one it is.
