Hey guys I'm having a bit of an issue..
Disconnected fuel , bleh bleh, tried to crank her over for a prime, just bumped the ignition and immediately heard loud clacking from the transmission.
Tried to crank it again, had a buddy observe from below, this time holding ignition for 2-3 seconds, and it seems like the noise is consistent with a revolution of the flywheel. I have a n/t fidanza fly , n/t clutch with the n/t transmission. I put 2 small washers in between the starter to space it out to see if that was the issue and it still contined. Yes I have the starter plate.
I took the starter off and gave her a few turns from the crank bolt, and no noises, nice and smooth, no resistance like something is in the way other than normal resistance from compression.
I'll be dropping the trans tomorrow to get a better look, but I'm just trying to get some input on what this could be , just in case It can be fixed without dropping the tranny. As always, any and all input is greatly appreciated.
Also, I did some research an I can't find a solid answer on 1g 6bolt vs 1g 7bolt starter and starter plate differences , so if someone with some more knowledge coul clarify this, again I'd appreciate it.
If this is something that I can fix without having to drop the trans that would be amazing. This has been a long frustrating road, as I'm sure alot of you have been on it before many times.
