Hey guys, Ive looked all over the site, and their never has been a post on these chrome airintakes from ebay........ Their so cheap it must be to good to be true, anyone running one...... Any probs, or advice as to a good air intake
thanks Rich

for that price it must be to good to be true LOL:dsm:

i think i know what your talking about,,, i run one and so have a few of my friends,, from what ive noticed,, you either get a dull or polished aluminum or you get chrome plated stainless, dont rely on the pics as to what you,ll be getting,, but other than that,,,, they work pretty good,, we had to fab some of the tubes to fit perfact, but i guess thats why you get such a good deal. id say if you good at a lil fab work,,, then go for it, but if you want a straight bolt on,, these arnt for you.

I bought one and it IS direct fit, with all hardware and couplers. The coupler from the MAS to the intake is VERY tight, but it will work. It works great and sounds awesome (Like a jet engine). I noticed a big difference in spool up (~250 rpms) and quicker throttle response. It came with a good filter too. The color is chrome on mine. I can take pics if you want. But I say buy.:rocks:

An intake is one of the few things I would actually recommend buying from Ebay. They are just a pipe and a filter; it's very hard to mess that up. I've used them multiple times and never have had any problems.

Sorry this is so long but, I wrote this for all.

The one I got from ebay was CRAP! First of all, I ordered a black one w/ black couplers. They sent me a chrome one w/ blue and red couplers! The pipe itself was too long and pushed the MAF too far towards the passenger side. I couldn't get the filter from my FIPK on no matter what i tried. I ended up having to trim the pipe about 1.5" before it would work but, I ended up having to use the crappy blue filter they supplied. It barely fit. 2 weeks later, my car started boosting uncontrollably high. I thought my Blitz EBC was acting up so I turned it off but that didn't solve the problem. I pulled the intake pipe off to find the silicone vacuum line to the wg was split. The poorly engineered intake pipe pinched the line until it finally split. I replaced the line and the same thing happened again 5 days later. I took that pipe and filter off and threw them in the dumpster where they belong. I went back to the stock pipe with K&N FIPK. No problems since. You really do get what you pay for when it's so cheap. Hope this helps.

I used one of ebay for my last car and it wasnt that bad, the only difference between one off of ebay and say an injen intake is the brand name and maybe a little bit of quality and the price but for the price on ebay you cant go wrong

Wow, that's really unlucky. How long ago was this? I used about five or six Ebay intakes already and with the exception of having to cut off a little of the elbow on my 420a's, I haven't had any fitment problems.

I have the BOMZ ebay intake and I love it... Pretty good considering the price... I only used the couplers and the intake pipe...I dont trust those filters and I dont like the mas air filter adapter because it is off center, and I read somewhere that it will meter the air wrong because it is off to a side...

Honestly for our cars especially if you're on the stock turbo (which I assume you guys are) an intake is an intake is an intake. The only somewhat noticeable differences would be if you ran a true cold air intake, i.e. one that has the filter mounted in the stock SMIC location. The one thing I would say to look out for is poor casting boogers left on the inside of the intakes, which wouldn't be all that uncommon in cheap parts. These can come loose and be sucked into your compressor blades, and they can't be good for your engine, if they can make it through the I/C. There was a thread on this site or another a few years back showing pics of this, but I cant seem to find it.

on ebay they usually have a policy if you dont receive the iteam listed or the iteam that you bought you report it and u get your money back or the iteam that you originally purchased, not to get of the topic. But i dont think the mas being of to the side would make a difference because the same amount of air flows through the pipe evenly and it seems as though there would have to be a problem with the intake pipe to cause something like that

Maybe... but if i remember correctly i think it said there will be more flowing air on one side of the honey combs than the other which was the problem causing faulty a/f mixtures...

First of all, almost everyone in this thread needs to work on their grammar and punctuation. Three periods or commas is not proper punctuation, just wait until Defiant gets in here. :D

On topic- I bought an Ebay pipe with a K&N for my pickup and it works just fine. Personally, I would try to stay away from the foam type filters, as i don't think they actually filter as well, but have no evidence of this. If your just getting the pipe part of the intake, I don't see how you could mess that up too terribly bad. With that said, I have a FP 4'' intake on my car.:rocks:

Personally if it was me i would buy the pipe off of ebay, and then just dispose of the filter. I trust the pipes but not the quality of the filter. I like to use an APC filter, but that is just me.

I bought an Ebay intake from chrome intakes. It was a tight fit around the MAS, and also it pushed against my lower coolant pipe. Overall I'm satisfied with it. I could hear my bov and the turbo spooling pretty loud with just a cone filter, I can't wait to hear how the bov sounds with the hard pipe. :)

edit: Also I don't think there is a signifigant difference in filters of different brands. Chrome Intakes probably spent alot of money on their filter elements though, they are well assembled and feel sturdy. Like someone mentioned, I wouldn't trust the foam type filters though.

An intake pipe, is a pipe, any will do. Ebay pipe and K&N FIPK FTW!!

I trust the pipes but not the quality of the filter. I like to use an APC filter, but that is just me.

so you don't trust ebay filters, but your trust APC? Theres something wrong with that statement.

I just received my chrome intake yesterday. I bought it off of Ebay through Chromeintakes, it got here really fast. They send an e-mail making sure you bought the right intake and to get information about your car so they send the right one. Polished aluminum with pits, under good welds and the inside it rough and may have boogers. Couplers look decent, but that could change. All the vacuum lines provides look like they have nothing to do with my car, but thats ok.... they are blue, I want red. ;) I'm going to install it today after I touch it up a bit. Get what you pay for, but I say go for it, it looks good and it is just a pipe. :dsm:

i bought an bomz racing intake from ebay for $65 with a red filter, red couplers, and red hoses. It was a tight fit while installing it but once it was in it looks great. Also, the bov and turbo spool up is alot louder than stock. So for the price you cant really go wrong.

I received the intake about 6 weeks ago. The only difference it made was making the spool-up louder. I felt better gains with my FIPK. I guess I just had bad luck. I did email the vendor of the intake and he refunded me half of my money. He didn't want me to leave negative feedback on him. I thought that was damn decent of him. I'm glad to hear the rest of you guys didn't have any issues though.
