Choose a DSM

Hey Guys. I'm new to the site and DSMs and was wondering on some advice for choosing one of these beasts.

Here is what I'm looking for right now. A 95-99 GSX or GST with a manual trans. that has under 100,000 miles and under $6000. I already have a '04 trailblazer but and looking for it for a daily driver(for gas mileage) and a little fun. A buddy(had a 91 gst) at work said it'd be a great car for this purpose. I was wondering if you guys had any advice on what to look for during a test drive, and if I am even looking at a decent model/year etc.

I would get a 98-99 eclipse gsx manual trans. That would be the ultimant but i dont know about better gas millage this will get about 21 MPG average at best. But good luck.

Thanks. But what about the gst in my link? I was looking at the reviews for the GSX's and they says they get 19/24 and the GSTs get 20/27. Right now I get 12-16 so 21 would be welcomed!

You could always get an safcII and a logger and tune for better gas consumption. There are some guys on the board with 25+mpg. You should check out another thread in the newbe forum about guys and there milage.

I have had as much as 27 mpg on the highway last year with a my FP turbo, afc, 650's and 272 cams. And that was cruising at 80-85 miles an hour.

Ya i guess if you are getting 18 or so MGP that would be an inprovement. Also the gs-t looks great in you link. It looks very clean and is a great looking car. If your going to just use it for a millage car then you may want to gs-t instead of the X but defenatly get the X if you are going to tune it at all you will never regret an X. but either way they are both great cars. If gas mileage is really important, I'd say get the GST and a manual. Its all in how you drive it though.

I have a '93 talon TSi and I love it. if I was you I would get one. Plus the block is stronger than the 2g's
