I had a 92 Laser RST. It was FWD. I sold it tho bc i joined the Army. Now i have some money and looking to buy a new car. I loved my 240sx but i loved my laser. I wanted to get a 2g if i did get a DSM. I dont know what to so i think i will ask some fellow DSMer's. It is so hard!

Thats a useless swap, when a turboed KA is all around better.

Also, I know AWD cars can drift, and your ignorant for even bringing up Ken block as hes stated that his level of drifting and the many outtakes he had in those videos could never compare to real Rally racers and wouldnt compete against a 16 year old in WRC.

I meant, you can't drift your 1G as effective as an awd subie.

The way you reply to others posts is not gaining you any respect..

Sorry about using StmanTis in the one meant to you.

But ignorance is bliss, unless you are you, who states the wrong pros, and the wrong cons to both vehicles. Opinions are wonderful though. And I appreciate yours.

I will post up a Ghymkana video up of me and my 1g come early spring. I plan on doing it for some of my buddies at WKU for one of their film projects.

Seriously, to me it's all about cost, goals, upgradeability (word? :hmm:) and cost associated, length of desired ownership (in this case which vehicle will get you to XXX goal by XXX time so you can enjoy vehicle for what you want it for XXX years), and most importantly which vehicle inspires confidence. Only you can decide yung jedi. may the force be with you.
 
I like 240's and have always been curious about them, but I like AWD 4g63 better. Get a GSX and make enough power to flick the rear out.
 
Tough call especially when you could drop a skyline engine in the 240. Rare engine from what I've been told though. Your best bet is going to be a AWD dsm. Whether it be an Eagle Talon TSI AWD or a GSX. Same car. Twins really. Parts for a 6 bolt or 7 bolt are a lot easier to find. So are engines should you need a spare.
 
That's wild because it took me and my buddy about 4 days to do the entire install. And with the LS1 he was actually lighter than his KA and his SR he had.

So before you open your thought process, google to find some facts.

We must be thinking of completely different engine then. I am thinking of a V8 that sits so close it touches the rad and requires a lot of custom work to work. Saw a project log on it somewhere round nico

go to a Universal Tuner forum, not a Tuner Forum aimed at a specific car or kind of car.

We really don't need this junk on a DSM forum
 
love the dsm world but if i had that kind of money to throw at a car i would pick the 240 but put a 2jzgte in it. they make a kit to just bolt it right in.

if you mod any car CORRECTLY it will never leave you stranded, smart one..

and that was for the 240sx.

The same cannot be said for a 4g63 in my opinion. They still find a way to break. Thats fact for most that DD with over 3-400 hp

a DSM and a 240 are just as reliable as the other.

if you want to ask 240 or DSM this is the wrong site to say it, because the majority of people will say DSM.
 
i just traded my 300zx N/A for my 1g talon and i dont think i could ever go back to RWD, i loved to put that heavy bi*** sideways but i couldnt drive it in the snow to save my life i would assume a lighter car with 220hp(sr20) would have equal problems. I love drifting but AWD is much funner, and not to mention modifying SR20DET and RB26DETT is ####in expensive and you may have huge fitment problems. modifying dsms to go fast is easy :) DSM!
 
Cars are reliable and built to take years of neglect.

Now, once you start modding them, whether you do it half ass, or do crap work, or if you do a very clean mod, and do it properly, it boils down to when will it leave you stranded.

Most cars are good up until they reach a certain point, then after that certain point, its the waiting factor for when something is going to go bad.

Cleanly modding and doing it properly just makes it easier in the long run to deal with, instead of trying to trace back your half ass work.

Just my two cents.
 
Dude.. how much money your trying to put in to the car.. I had a Sr20 power 240sx.. Nice car made nice power, but getting parts is a pain in the a*s...! A starter $350 $400..!! If your going to do a sr swap look at the price brack down. $1200-$1500 sr20 motor, $2500-$3500 on bolt ons.. After all of this you may run mid 12.. If your going to get a 240sx go with a s13 coupe.. Its the lightest..

If you go with a dsm get a 2g gsx only..

it really depends on what exactly you want to do. i had the same issue a while ago but when i had money to buy a car the 1g gsx was right there so i took it. its not so much about how much money you have, its about whats out there for sale especially considering the demand for the AWD dsm's and for the nissan 240's.
