I had a 92 Laser RST. It was FWD. I sold it tho bc i joined the Army. Now i have some money and looking to buy a new car. I loved my 240sx but i loved my laser. I wanted to get a 2g if i did get a DSM. I dont know what to so i think i will ask some fellow DSMer's. It is so hard!

i love my talon but if i had the money you had i would get the 240 and swap a rb in it. how many people have eclipes and talons or even evos...alot how many people can say they have a skyline powered car? or how many people have even seen or got to hear the awsome sound of that rb?

I have saw tons of RB and SR 240s. Installed plenty of them. Installed a few ls1's in 240s as well.

Things I hardly see is fast DSM's. Since where I live there's really no big DSM community.

I have a 91 240sx and a 96' GST. I enjoy driving the 240sx more but the stock KA makes no power, like other have said; turbo it but don't take my advice because I haven't done anything to my KA. Its bone stock. I love driving it because it handles much better, has a better turning radius and the transmission shifts a lot smoother than my DSM. (Every DSM I've driven, shifts like shit. I think these transmissions suck.)

I couldn't imagine how mucb I would enjoy driving my 240 if it had an SR20 in it or I turbocharged the KA, I think I would sell my DSM if that ever happened because I would never drive it.

The DSM has more power stock but the 240 is a much better platform to work on. I think it all depends on how much money you wanna spend and if you like driving in a straight line or not.

Picture whore time! (My 240sx, I paid 200 dollars for it a couple months ago)

RBs are overrated. Not that they aren't incredible engines, but there are much cheaper platforms to build power with. Personally, I'd go with an RX-7 with a 4g63 in it.

I will give you 300 for it. Lol.

Ahh, I have a 1986 RX-7. Love it to death, but its a maintenance hog, and the rotary motor is so amazing.

I agree. RX-7s are so much better, I would just keep the rotary. That's the beauty of it. The rotary is so linear and nothing makes as much HP/size and weight as it does. Also, I think the RX-7 was way better engineered than any DSM or 240SX. When I sold my RX-7 and bought a DSM, the first thing I noticed was how much more the doors, hood, and hatch weighed and all the little things that no one really notices.

All opinoin and I respect it. But you're saying the same thing honda owners say. "YO, we make more power per litre." "Homie, we be so lite."

They rx8 makes GREAT power per litre. So does the FC, etc. But it's TINY. It would have been nice if they make the motor with higher displacement so that it could compete without blowing an apex seal every 2k. . .

So ideally, an rx7 with a 4g63 would do the trick?

Apex seals do blow, not every 2k miles. If you want to compare engine for engine; if you blow an apex seal, you can still drive your car. If you blow your headgasket you cannot.

The rotary is an engineering marvel, and produces more power than any piston motor could (per litre). Also being a rotary there really is no rev limit, its like a two stroke dirt bike, you can rev the shit out of them and it does not matter.

I love the 4g63 and the 13b, but my favorite would have to be the LS1.

I read somewhere on this site today ( I believe just searching rx7 titles) that the ls1 swap is not only 100 lbs lighter but a better stronger engine.

I don't see a LS1 being lighter than a 13B. a 13B is like 150lbs for the engine. very light. that's why Mazda chose it: it gave a perfect 50/50 weight distribution and still made lots of power.

and I'm not trying to be a Honda guy with the "my engine has more BHP/" kinda thing. I just like engines that are well engineered. like I love the 4G63T, but those VTECs making the same HP from the same displacement w/o forced induction is impressive, along with revving to 8100 rpm from the factory. same thing with a rotory; amazing engineering.

Only the top half of a 200hp honda 2.0L motor displays advanced engineering:) Put that block through the rigors of a daily beaten 450whp 6bolt, and it will spit up its guts. The marval of the 4g63 is how much you can push the block. The resto of it is port work, CR, and tuning.

Most of the rotaries i see have gt40 sized turbo's making 450-550 whp. Pretty weak.

Yep, I didn't want to get into that :)

no mazda chose the rotary as something new and advance. I mean really what other car do you know from 1986 that has electronic suspension. Is capped at a 1.3 liter making 140 horse that can rev to who knows when.

also the ls1, is all aluminum and with the swap the car will be 100lbs lighter. so now the cars curb weight is around 2400 lbs. and if you do a cam only ls1, you have 400 horse and a hell of a road monster.

when my 13b decides it wants to turn into a fish tank, i am going to do a ls1 with a trex cam, 6.0 liter heads, ls6 intake, 90mm maf and tb. Tune her for about 450 horse.

do the math. rx7s are nasty and amazing. (just like communism works on paper, so does the 7)

I'd do the Torquer 2 Cam with all the ls6 stuff you're swapping to it.

one of the best videos out there.
