i just put my greddy type RS BOV today with out recirculating and was trying it out to see if it ran fine and it did. i drove it alot and it drove and idled fine, then when i was driving home the check engine light turned on. could this be because of not recirculating? if not how can i figure out why the CEL turned on?

CEL light comes on when a sensor that is communicating with the ECU is sending information to the ECU to tell the user that something isn't right in that certain part of the motor and needs to be "Checked" - why it's called the "Check Engine Light" .. esp, where it was off, but now it came on.

It could be a fuel trim that the Ox2 sensor doesnt like and is telling the ECU about it and the ECU is trying to adjust trim, but it's so far out of range that the CEL light comes on for the user to remedy the problem.

I had an occasional CEL light that would come on then off and after going through the codes, it was my knock sensor that was losing communication with the ECU, thus I replaced the knock sensor and no more CEL light.

These are fun to find what the problem is since the ECU is a pretty smart fella.

thanks for the post bud. what do i have to do to get the codes?

you will need a obo code reader set up for a mitzu. You can go to your dealer and they can read codes for you.

You should really recirculate, no matter how cool it sounds your ecu isn't going to know how much air is in the engine because it is tuned for the bov to be recirculated. By venting it you are tricking the ecu into thinking there is more air coming in then there actually is and can cause problems like the CEL coming on and weird idle.

thanks guys. and yea i will probably recirculate again soon just gatta order the fitting for my BOV. the car drives fine but it will probably be better off just recirculating
