I found this website while I was browsing around and I was wondering what you guys thought about there wideband kit. Here's the link to it...http://www.14point7.com/JAW/JAW.htm
I was wondering if any of you have actually installed this wideband and what your opinions were on it. You buy their $45 board and a $50 bosch lsu sensor. It seems like a pretty good deal for around $95! You can also get their $25 display for it too. Just wondering what you guys think about it.

ok here is the question.. from what i understand narrow band o2 reads .1 to .9 volts.. the question is, can i tune a car by taking a volt meter and taping into the signal wire for o2 and reading the voltage on the meter.. i know it wouldnt be 100% but it should be close right? say .5v would be stoich and .9 would be rich,, then at wot i should want something like .6-.75 so be somewhere in area of 13.7-11.7..?? am i in ball park?? would this work??

No, that would not work. A narrow band o2 sensor does not give a linear output of AFR vs. voltage. It has a large change in voltage right around 14.7 AFR and very little change as you move from that value. A properly functioning narrow band o2 sensor is actually supposed to cycle back and forth from low to high voltage when it is near 14.7 AFR. Widebands, however, are designed to give a linear output over a larger voltage range (5V vs. 1V), giving better resolution to the AFR measurement.

Checking out JAW's website it looks like they have a decent product. They can sell it so cheap because they do very little packaging of the product and it is not fully wired up and ready to go when you buy it at $90. One has to factor in the time to wire up the bosch wideband and get it properly hooked up to the controller. JAW is just selling the bare minimum of what you need for a WBo2 setup. But if you have the knowledge to do the setup I would say go for it. Videos on their site show some good looking results.

The narrow band O2 sends a fluctuating signal that bounces back and forth. The ecu determines the A/F ratio by "averaging" these fluctuations (it's not actually averaging, but easier to understand).
Plugging in a voltmeter would just give you a whole lot of fluctuations - completely useless.

EDIT: You beat me to it!

I picked up my AEM UEGO for $236 shipped. That's about as cheap as ou are going to get for a reliable wideband with display IMO. Pm me for details.

I bought a new Innovate LC-1 w/o gauge for 170 dollars.... FTW.

edit: the JAW doesn't look like a bad product. I'd like to see it proven to work for a long period of time without burning up. It's definitely not for "lazy" people though.

thats the only wideband i will use its worth the extra cash

I actually picked up the UEGO new on ebay last week for 220 shipped. I decided that it was worth the extra money to not only have a brand I trust, but it also looks way better.

only problem is I've had 3 uegos now and it seems like I'm working on my 4th thats not reliability

Too bad I'm late on the topic. I bought an Innovative wideband kit from Maperformance a few months ago $189 shipped, reputable brand, complete kit, and great price. To add to that Maperformance is a supporting vender;) and super honest good people.

I have one of the JAW widebands in my car and had no problem what so ever with it. Only thing that sucked is it didn't have a case, now he has come out with the NAW wideband and that thing is tits.
