Hey!
car: 96 eclipse gst with a 6bolt motor
Summay: Need some help with this, I seem to have tried it all but nothing works. The problem is the alternator is not charging. The Origanal alternator tested bad after replacment the problem remains. Checked and rechecked the alternator and the battery. I have replaced the battery and the alternator with NEW parts.
Questions:
1. The connector that plugs into the alternator are there three positive and one ground?
2. The two wires together connected to the side of the alternator that run to the battery dont show any power. are those wires a return from the alternator to charge the battery or are those wires suppose to power up the alternator. Because it shows no power when the car is started...
Please gimme any trouble shooting suggestions.
This is what i have tried and checked.
Checked the battery and its terminals for corrotion. Checked the alternator. Checked the alternator fuse in the fuse box. Also keep in mind the alternator was bad, and after replacment there is no charging.
The only thing I dont know is that the connector to the alternator that have four slots on them should all be power or 3 power and 1 ground. When I checked the plug with the light test the 2 lit-up bright, one very dim and the 4th none.
any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance guys...
