My talon is having problems charging my battery i can jump start it and turn it off 5 minutes later and restart it without jump starting it. I replaced the alternator and the alt. fuse still has the same problem the battery is only 7 months old. i guess my question is does my ecu control the voltage for the alternator? its frustrating i just put all the work in to it changing the head gasket and it was running for a week and its down again please help.

No it doesn't, a lot of batteries can have a bad cell causing the charge to be basically kicked back. Go to advance auto parts and have your whole system checked. Also if you have a drain anywhere in your system. Such as a constant draw on the battery loose connections so on and so forth could be a problem. Good luck

first thing i would do is take an ohm meter to the battery and verify its not charging , then check the terminals to make sure theyre not loose at all, then check the cables to make sure they arent too corroded , make sure the grounds are good on the trans and back of intake , make sure the belt is on proper and snug and moves the pulley well and last but maybe first if you know all of the above is good is get a hand held battery alt starter tester that will tell you if that alternator is a dud and has a bad diode , i worked in the service industry for many years and got bad alternators from parts places , hell i put a new one on my car once that started glowing orange after a minute of running and took almost an hour to cool down before i could take it back off. you may possibly have gotten a bad alt.

Check all your chassis grounds. I have had SO many issues where stuff is messing up (battery not charging, lights coming on, even bright lights coming on when you adjust the electric seat ha) and all it was was a bad ground. Make sure they are all nice and pretty.

thanks peoples for the help if it would stop snowing i can check it out my other project is taking up my garage space. I am going to start with a new battery because its still under warranty and check all my grounds in the process

thanks again peoples.

I'd do that, go ahead and go and get your battery tested and see if it has a bad cell, then go check your grounds like stated above...By chance is it a red top battery? Those dry cell batteries can't be ran down and then jumped, they have to be recharged a certain way, or by a charger that has a AGM setting...Good Luck

My red top went down while waiting to have my build done. I put it in a truck and drove with it for a few days and brought it up good and has been great ever since.

ya if its a charging problem, usually 90% of the time its going to be your alternator. A good way to check it is if you take a voltmeter, hook it up to the battery while the car is RUNNING, you should read up in the 14v range. just a little tip to throw into your book :)
