Would I need to disconnect the + and - battery terminals before clamping them with a charger or it's fine doing it as is? Thanks.

Hook up the negative to the chassis, away from the battery. Do it last when connecting, and first when removing. You want to keep sparking well-away from a charging battery and the hydrogen it emits.
