I recently installed a small battery and mounted it down low in the engine bay, right where the charcoal canister was supposed to be. I found a nice little spot underneath the car to relocate it to. This also allowed me to get rid of the extra hard line running all the way up into the engine bay.

I'm aware the canister is just a fancy vent installed the way it is. Let me try again and go back to the original question:
I still like this better than dangling the rubber hose off the back of the tank. I'm not trying to convince anyone to go put their canister back on; I just thought it was a cool idea I would share.
