Can you delete the cat on a early 95 avenger 420a (manufacture date september '94) without having a check engine light on or side effects? I only saw 1 (upstream o2 sensor) I didn't see a second or (downstream o2) sensor while I was underneath it doing a manual tranny swap. Does it have 2 o2 sensors or just 1? I recently had a P0139 code (O2 sensor 2, bank 1 slow response) which is why I ask if it has only 1 or 2 o2 sensors. thanks

It wouldn't cause any "side effects" per say, but would trigger a CEL. When I delete catalytic converters on Subarus I use a spark plug anti-fouler to space the sensor out and it doesn't trigger a light, but I'm not sure if there's clearance to do so on the Avenger.

thanks that is exactly what I do with 2nd gen rams and dakotas if it does trip a cel.
