I'm planing on removing my ac since it don't work and lose a couple pounds and when I do, what size belt would I need? And would I still b using the tensioner or not! All that the belt would b on is the powersteering and crank if not using the tensioner right?

I'm planing on removing my ac since it doesn't work, and lose a of couple pounds when I do it. What size belt would I need? And would I still be using the tensioner or not? The only belt that would be on is the powersteering to the crank if not using the tensioner, correct?

Tried to fix it for you..just a bit..

But to try to answer the question..I guess you could do it (the AC delete) Just take a length of string and go around the PS pump to the crank, and take that to the autoparts store to get the belt. I am pretty sure you will still need the tensioner in there so you can tighten the belt though, since if memory serves, the PS pump is static. In addition, the project may be a touch tricky as I think the tensioner PUSHES on the belt inbetween the PS and AC pullies, so you will have to come up with different tensioning method if you decide to take the AC compressor off.

This is all just my opinion...YMMV

I removed a/c from my friends 97 just can't remember what size belt I used and he's since sold the car. When I removed his I still used the tensioner just changed the pulley from smooth to a 5 groove and had it pull on the belt instead of push. When we measured the belt we adjust the tensioner all the in (in towards the motor) and used a seamstress tape measure
