My car all of a sudden started studdering and it won't stay on it will compleyey die after about 4 second even if I press the gas the RPM are very high and it will just shut off, seems like the sparking order is off, so I'm going to repace the cas

My engine doesn't have a cas on the passenger side of the car, someone told me its common for it to not be there bc there's one behind the cam gear

Does that mean I have to get a CAS off a different year dsm? How to remove it? And how do you TIME DSMs correctly

Please help AND thanks

The intake on our car is behind the intake cam. It not hard to change, just take some patience. Make sure you dont drop your bolts down your timing cover. If its bad you can find a good one on here or at a junkyard. To get a different CAS on, you would need to spice in your harness to wire it in. Here is a good link to help you time. Here is another great link to help you switch CAS if you decide to. Hopefully that helps.

Timing Belt VFAQ
RRE Instructions

So I basically have to take the timing belt off, take the cam gear off, replace sensor, and put the timing belt on....correct?

It might be hard to replace the sensor if you leave the cam
gear on,,,could be possible tho.
I personally have 2 cas' on my 2g with a 6bolt motor,,,I wired the crank sensor
like vfaq says and I always got the random misfire issue.
So I hooked up the 2g cas inside the cam gear back up,,then
hooked up the crank sensor to a 1g cas and "BAM" no more
random misfire issue.
