CARB legal quiet exhaust. Does someone make one???

I just got a ticket for my exhaust last night and now I have to get another exhaust that is CARB legal and pretty quiet. Please tell me where to get it and how much it costs. Also if anyone has sound clips of there exhaust from idle to redline please let me hear it. Thank you in advance. Later

Why do you need a carb legal one? That's for california only. Pasesetter makes a very quiet 2.5 inch catback. That's what I have.

I got pulled for an illegal exhaust last Fri. I explained to the cop that it was 50 state legal, CARB exempt ( althoug that doesnt matter in Va. ) and within the decibel range.

He told me that none of that matters cause anything other than stock in Va. is illegal.
I ended up only getting a warning.

You could always buy the stock GST exhaust, 2.5 in and no one knows its a modification cause it looks like n/a stock exhuast.

Yea it's illegal to have a modified exhaust in Louisiana. I just found this out yesterday but I am getting a ractive muffler anyway because it is pretty quiet so they shouldn't mess with me too much.

CARB is Calfornia Air Resources Board, aka Smog Nazis. Nothing after the cataclysmic diverter matters to them. Exhaust noise is purely a consideration of the Bigoted Pig in the Trooper Uniform. If it sounds loud to them, they write a ticket, figuring you aren't going to dick with asking a judge about it.

Where in Louisiana did you pick up this CARB connection?

Anyways, tell a local muffler shop what the problem is. They'll be able to fix you up.

Or, contest the ticket. Make them PROVE you're too loud.

Thats the thing though in Louisiana it is illegal to have anything but the stock exhaust on the car. If anyone can find proof that I can have a quiet modified exhaust in Louisiana, please help! I have been to a few sites but could not find anything, also I called the State Police and they said that modified exhaust for cars was uneeded and illegal even if it passes the decibel test. This is the analogy he gave me

What is stock then? Dealership? Does that mean that every exhaust shop is illegal?

You really need to investigate with Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA).

Here is the Louisiana statute:

RS 32:353. Modification of exhaust systems

No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor of such vehicle, above that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the vehicle and the original muffler shall comply with all of the requirements of R.S. 32:352.

Acts 1962, No. 310, §1.

There is also a concerted effort by the Good Ole Boy justice system to discriminate against import cars, at least I think so. If a Harley Davidson motorcycle or a Pickup or mustang with glasspacks or straight pipes can roll around the neighborhood so can we.
