Car wont start, searched, no help.

Long and short, car will turn on radio and all electrics work but when I turn key radio goes off and I hear one click. Tried second battery, but it is doing the same thing. Help, I gotta get to work tonight!

hmmm.... sounds kinda like a loose ground wire. Check the cable where the negative bolts to the block, and the terminals where it connects to the battery...

Thanks guys just went to the bar to clear my head, Ill bring out the flash lights, Where on the block are they grounds? I tested battery, it is perfect and lights dont dim at all when trying to start.

I don't know where the ground is, but if you follow the black cable, it goes straight to the block. I bought mine with no engine, so I am of little help on the location, but it doesn't go through any other devices before the block.

I did notice the 80a alt fuse looked used and worn down, could that be possible?

I might check the starter wires if I were you. Is that fuse blown? If so, replace it, if it's not blown but still shows damage replace it.

It doesnt look like a normal blown fuse just looks used. I cant seem to get it removed though, its the top right fuse on pass side fuse box. Previous owner says it sounds like the starter as ALT is brand new, and it looks new. All wires look ok, I guess final culprit is start or starter wires?

Where is the starter solenoid located on this car? On my old 5.0 it was easy right on the frame rail. I can either buy a new one or test the old.

knowing what year and model will help answer where the starter is. on my 96 non turbo its right up front. don't know where it is for the 4g63's.

once you find it, an easy way to test it is to arc out the starter with a flat head. this will basically force start your car, just make sure it is in park (automatic) or neutral (5 speed) before you do this so it doesn't take off on you.

just be careful to not touch the metal part of the screw driver .

FIXED, My neutral safety switch assembly was not being touched by the pedal. I guess an adjustment is an order. Thank you all for your help, I love this forum!

Glad to hear you fixed your car and it didn't cost you anything but a bit of a headache. A bit of advice though, you'd love this forum even more if you'd update your profile filling out your car mod's/info. Its hard to help someone with their car when you don't even know what year/make/model of DSM it is.

Did and done, Now I need to figure out if I can run without the switch plugged in safely, or what happened to push it out of the way.

Yes, you can run with the clutch safety switch disconnected. Be sure to tuck the connector somewhere out of the way so it has no chance of interfering with pedal travel and that, since you no longer need to depress the clutch pedal to start the car, you do not attempt to start the car in gear without depressing the pedal.

Thanks for the tip, and why would anyone try to start the car in gear without pushing the pedal? Its a habit to put my foot on the clutch or brake(AT) when starting the car. WTF

My old man does it. Fortunately, he always presses the clutch; it's one of those things that he's always done and has no reason to change now, even with the switch disconnected. I don't try to force it on him because I'm afraid it would confuse him.

It's something I say to cover my arse; you'd be surprised what people will do if you don't tell them exactly what not to do.
