I just purchased the dsmlink. I took the ecu off a RUNNING 1995 talon awd and I have a 1999 eclipse GST. I had DSMlink socket the eprom to ensure it was done correctly and after the ECU swap the car wont start! The car runs fine with the stock ecu and injectors. I have also tried switching the plugs around. The car cranks but refuses to start!!!! Someone please help me with this nightmare!

Any help at all is appreciated!

There could be damage to traces on the board from desoldering the stock chip. It could also be a bad chip. If you have access to another chip, remove the existing chip, and plug in the new one. Then retest the car. This may help to determine the source of your issue.

If you can talk to it then the ECU is running and it's more likely something else is wrong.

Injectors being mechanical devices vary, aftermarket ones more than typical production ones. Dialing them in starts with using typical values for the global and injector deadtime correction and then based on the fuel trims and wideband measurements (if you have one) adjusting the two parameters to match your specific set.

If you check the DSMLink forums you'll find postings about what to log for diagnosing start up problems. The of the big values of DSMLink is the support of their forums.

So if the ECU is running fine and the injectors are dialed in properly, is there anything else that could be causing the problem? Since the car runs fine with the stock ECU and injectors.

thanks for your help.

Your eprom chip needs to be flashed to match your injectors, OR you need to adjust global and deadtime settings accordingly. Why don't you give us your dsmlink username and we'll be more than happy to help you over there?

Verify your air and fuel settings. Post your full mod list and a log.

Ok so I put the ECU on my fiends talon awd and it fired right up and we connected it to his dsm link and everything ran and logged as it should. The eprom and dsm link are definitely not the problem anymore. So why wil my car run on the stock ecu/injectors and not on the eprom!? Also, I ordered the eprom to match the specifications of my car. FIC 950's and hacked maf that's all.

You HAVE swapped the wires around, like has been posted, right?

All the work has always been done at my mechanic. I have been relaying info to him and he says he has tripple checked the wires. I took the car back today and I am going to recheck the wiring and everything else myself and I'll let you know. Thank you.

Have injectors dialed in? Switched plugs 1-2 and 3-4? Inverted CAS?

I'm making progress. You were right the wires were in the stock firing order. I changed them to the way the "dsmlink wiki" shows to be the correct way. The car is now running but it runs like crap. I am sure I'll fix those details soon enough.

thanks again guys!
