1992 tsi wont start after car was stolen

Just bought a 92 tsi as a theft recovery, clean title but no keys and a busted igniton. Put a new ignition in it, now when i turn the key all i get is a click from a little black relay in the drivers side kick panel, replaced the relay and still same result. I tried to jump the starter solenoid and i can get the starter to spin but it wont push out to engage to the flywheel. While down next to the starter i found a broken wire, black with a yellow stripe, looks like it maybe could to a terminal on the starter? Any one have a wiring diagram for the engine harness or have any ideas?

Check that the wire that runs to the solenoid on the starter is connected. Your broken wire could be the one that runs to the solenoid.

I bet that's how either they recovered it or stole it, get that fixed with large crimp butt connection or get a new wire.
Was the aluminum on the columb all broken apart or were the wires trashed going to the first set of connectors? Sounds like it got powered at the plugs and jumped at the starter, didn't know what the hell they were doing....

I assume the MPI relay is what is clicking? Check the caps inside the ecu, and battery voltage.

they busted off the whole ignition and clipped all the wires, must have been trying to hot wire it. I hate theifs i havent been able to get another chance to look at the car but i have a feeling that broken wire is my problem
