Hi DSM'ers, I need some serious HELP!!! I have a 97 DSM GST that I have done a ton of stuff to, but I cannot seem to get this problem worked out? I have purchased a 98 ECU from Jeff O at the DSM shop that he set the parameters for including "no fuel cut" So what happens now is, the car will start and idle to 1500 RPM and die, it will do this all day until you unplug the largest bundle of wires from the ECU and plug it into the stock ECU, then back into the 98 ECU, and then it will start.
If that is not a big enough PIA, when I get on it, like getting onto the freeway, at top end the motor will die!!! Nice huh??
When I do the switch the bundles, I have to turn on the key until "something" in the dash behind the radio area makes a clicking sound and then it starts???? Does ANYONE have an idea what it could be?? I cant even race anyone because the dang thing dies just when things are getting FUN!!!

WTF

Ok, first of all. Please use descriptive thread titles. "HEEELLLP" doesn't let us know what exactly it is that you need help with...so most knowledgeable members will skip your post over. Luckily...I'm nice and in a good mood today.

EDIT: Yea...I was way off and totally wrong. No need to keep incorrect info here.

Jeff (Keydiver guy) knows his stuff, so my guess is the ECU isn't the issue. What other settings did you get it flashed with though?

Have you checked for boost leaks? Checked basic maintenance/function things like belts, sensors, etc.?

I sure hope you aren't talking about street racing, as that isn't allowed on this forum.

Ok, the guy is seriously retarded. You don't "set" an ECU for no fuel cut. Fuel cut is something that just happens when your fuel system reaches it's max output. Example, crank the boost to 25psi on a 16g w/ stock fuel then hammer it on the highway...you'll experience fuel cut.

The guy effed your stuff up. Take it back and call him an idiot.

+1 On YOU being wrong about Jeff O and DSMchips.com doing halfass work. You need to get your facts straight before you go off and run your mouth about someone have NO CLUE about. And yes, there is a "elimination of fuelcut" feature on the chip. Take a look DSMChips.com | DSM ECU Chips Enchanced by Keydiver I doubt its something with the ECU. Have you tried contacting Jeff about the issue? He'll gladly assist you in everyway possible, and he does with all of his customers. [email protected]

First off, Jeff has been a great help since he is the one that I bought the ECU from. Second, I did not say one thing about "street racing" I mentioned that when getting on the "freeway" it does it...
I have checked for leaks and that is not it. It does this shut off thing when just trying to start it.
And about the Help thing, didn't realize that the forum was such a "Politically Correct" forum? Wish the moderator was more into helping the DSM'ers than correcting their Topic Titles? Sorry...

Patrick,
Have you looked into the wiring harness issue that I emailed you about? The fact that it only dies when you accelerate very hard would seem to indicate a bad connection somewhere.
Just for everytone else's information: I have sent Patrick a second ECU, newly reflashed, and the symptoms are the same. So, unless you also want to call out Ceddy and tell him his definitions and patches are no good, I suggest you make more helpful comments. Patrick's car will not even run right now with the stock ECU and injectors in the car.
I had another 2G customer with a 2G that had similar issues a couple years ago, and found that the problem all started when he swapped ECU's. He finally traced it back to a cut ground wire, which was rubbing against a sharp corner of the chassis. The wiring harness was only getting grounded through ONE STRAND of ground wire:
"After several weeks of chasing a problem which first occurred shortly after installing the 95 eprom ecu. with the chip, I`m glad to say that the problem is solved. After several posts, emails, even phone conversations with Jeff, not to mention countless hours of tracing wiring, checking sensors, ohm testing components, etc, the problem was, an until now, un-touched FACTORY ground wiring harness issue about 30 inches up the main ecu. harness, under the metal structural dash support. After pulling all the wiring out of the split loom, & following it back, & up to where the ground wires break out of the harness, & converge to a main ring terminal lug where they get bolted to a main dash support for a sensor ground, I found a section of 12 gauge black ground wire, that had chafed against a tie down, inside the loom, reducing a 12 gauge main ground wire down to a single strand of connectivity. Just enough ground path to get correct & functional data during scanning for values with a scanner (logger), however, not enough connectivity to allow the car to run at all, due to lack of good sensor ground during the extra current draw through the affected ground path. So, all you 2G guys whom have or are about to remove your ecu, BEWARE! This happened to me ONLY after moving the wiring at the ecu. connections, so be cautious not to disturb this ground, or you`ll have problems!"

Anyone else ever see this problem?
