new innercooler and car won't run right help!

helpmy car was running great today and i put on a frontmount. the car seemed to be falling on its face after i piped it in so i though hey maybe i have a vacuum leak. then as im driving home"nothing crazy" im in 5th gear and i hear a BANG/POP. and now the car wont go faster then 5mph and runs like crap. as a matter of fact in wont run i have to give it gas to idle. there is a small very light cloud behind me but its dark outside so i can't tell the color. idiots around me throw dsm's together and never tune and never bloe theeir motor. i tune and im not sure if my head gsket blew or maybe the blowoff took a crap or what. all i know is as soon as i press in the clutch then car shuts off. but it runs like its on 2 cylinders what do i do?helps guys!

Well when it cools down take your coolant cap off if you cant see fluid theres a pretty good sign of a head gasket problem and check your dipstick for to see anything unusual

I would do a boost leak check. I bet a coupler came off or is now lose.

Sounds like your Cat on your exhaust is plugged.

Check for a couple that blew off, make sure all the piping is connected still.

Check the intercooler piping for oil from the turbo. And if it cranks do a compression and BLT.

Could be that one of your piping couplers wasn't on tight, and then popped off while you were driving. This could explain the leak, pop and now the stalling. Have you had a chance to check out all your piping connections under the hood?

Im really thinking this is the CAT possibly the pop was the insides of it blowing away and now its jammed in the exhaust and the smoke is the carbon blowing threw it. If you put your hand by the exhaust is their much air passing?

+3 on the piping


Stop listening to all the other BS one of the intercooler pipes came off period. This is very very common. Triple check everything im sure you will find an intercooler pipe that is completely hanging loose.

No.. I doubt the BOV went poop. Even the cheapos are metal and pretty well built. Its gotta be piping or a split coupler.

I made a post about using pVC for intercooler piping and it kept falling off same results. Car wouldnt pull itself much over idle. its an auto.

sounds like the car isnt getting air make sure none of the plastic wrapper didnt get caught in your piping might sound stooopid but u never know

im pretty sure there wont be a next step stop asking and check the piping throughly. It happened to me when I put a front mount on, and sounds exactly like you described.

guys thanx, sure as sh!t the piping blew off. i guess i couldn't feel or see it last night in the dark. i re-attached it and its running fine. im just affraid to boost again but im sure i'll work out the kinks. thanx again

I'm glad you found the problem. Do you have t-bolt clamps? If not, you may want to invest in some to replace the simple one's you have. The regular worm style clamps do not have good holding power.

Are your pipes are beaded? If they're not, this won't be the last time you get stuck on the side of the road in the dark looking for a loose coupler.
