Ok guys here is my full story on the car... the motor in the car is a 98/99 engine and has just been recently rebuilt with 50 miles on it ...everything is stock on the motor except it has a 20g running 8-10psi,front mount intercooler with a tial 50mm bov,255 walbro.
:idontknow: :idontknow: :idontknow:
So for some reason when i drive or neutral the car it seems like its lacking power and wont rev past 4-4.5 rpms ...i did a compression check at it came out 170-180 psi across all 4 cylinders ...i just cant seem to figure out what is wrong with the car
does anybody have any oppinions or suggestions i can try and if you guys need more info please let me know

thanks

sounds sort of like a problem I had with one of my first 1gs; I would check your ecu. Pull it out and see if there is any noticeable corrosion and check the caps.

what do you mean by checking the caps and if you can please post a picture and by the way didn't they only have that problem on the 1g's ? this is still the 97 stock ecu

Check out that page.

I have no personal pics. and yes the earlier ECUs in the 1gs had issues, but those issues continued into the later ECUs to my knowledge, although maybe not as much.

my 1g would 'bog' out bad and when i would nail the gas it would only rev to about where you are saying, and it would do it very slowly.

What type of ignition system does it have? distributor or coilpack? I was having a similar issue with my 7g galant, the wasted spark system it uses has a spark controller that runs the coilpacks, which from factory is faulty... mitsubishi even admitted to it and didn't recall them!!

The controller has 2 or 3 banks for 4 and 6 cylinders respectively. Mine was dropping cylinders at random sometimes getting down to 2 or 3 cylinders and wouldn't rev past 3-4k rpm. I was lucky to limp home a few times on 3-4 cylinders...

The module is usually mounted below or behind the coilpack mount.

When this module gets buggy it can nuke your coilpacks as well by not switching them off to charge properly before the next spark.

Good luck with your efforts
