Hello Tuners.

So i was at the track today, and clutch smell all over, guessing clutch overheated?? I have Stock clutch and running some good mods, i would like to know how and why with a brand new clutch, well a year old after driving at the 1/4 today i can't go into gears here are the Symptons:

-With car off i can go through all the gears.:thumb:
-With car idling i can't go into first gear and is very very hard to go into 2nd and 3rd, can't go into 4th nor 5th nor reverse..:banghead:
-While driving the car can go from 2nd gear to 3rd but very hard, and can't go any further.

If any of you guys have an idea why this might be please let me know..:aha:

My friend tells me that its because its overheated, i ran 2 times, with a good amount of time in between, but from teh 2nd time to 3rd time i didn't really have time to cool of the car, i came up to the lanes, spun the tires to heat them up, and go on green shifted to 2nd, and couldn't go into third, thats when this started happening, i get of the track and go into the exit, i thought of turning car off and putting it on first gear and go from there, and it did, I put it on 1st and drove slowly to the lot..

If any one has an input i thank you in advance..

Thanks Again

There is not cable adjustment on a 2g like there is for the 1g. However you could start by ensuring that the master cylinder is adjusted properly as well as checking for leaking out of the master and slave cylinder. Next would be to drop the transmission IMO

What did happen before it stopped going into gear, what did you do? Were you slipping the clutch trying to launch? Just by saying you smell the clutch leads me to believe you burned it up and need a new one now. What did you friend think over heated, the car or clutch? If a composite clutch over heats it won't go back to normal after it cools off like a kevlar clutch will.

The thing that made me cringe is the fact you were saying it's "very very hard" to shift into other gears. I fear you did more damage forcing gears to go in which is something you should never do. Never force anything, it should drop right in.

try adjusting the linkage? In the car adjust the clutch cylinder under the dash.
Linkage seems to be good, because it goes into all gears with car off without any problems, all smoothly, but its just while the car is running. :(, and what cylinder under the dash?

Ok, no leaks at all, its stock clutch not sure what you mean with composite or kevlar*, i was reving while letting clutch go slowly to lunch, i meesed up(first time ever racing) by holding clutch and accelerating same time while coming of clutch slowly while goign down the mile-dumb mistake, i was too nervous or w.e:banghead:.. But according to some of the tuners at the track and my friends also said that they can smell the clutch and that i overheated it thats why it wouldnt go into gears..

From idling i can go into 2nd or 3rd, and start rolling slowly, but from idling i can not get into 1st gear at all to start rolling, and when trying to enter 1st gear the car moves forward, same with reverse*. i punched it on 2nd gear to see what happens, clutch slipped(never happened before all this), lower to 3-4k rpm and shifted to 3rd gear(also not smothly it went in hard like if i wasn't using the clutch(same feeling on teh shifter), and clutch smell all teh way home and still there the smell..

Thanks for the Input Guy..

So what do you guys think about all this?... So itoday I went to try and shift with car idling, and nothing, so I'm guessing that I need a clutch kit, but tomorrow I will bleed the system well, and see how it gets...
