Chatham,
well my car stoped working for no reason about 2 weeks ago and I pulled the ecu and had leaky caps...so I had them changed out and continuity check done on it and they said the caps are workin properly...so I put the ecu in and still not working so is there a way to check the ecu to make sure its all working properly...other wise this ecu may be shot...if anyone has any ideas please let me know...id just like to see if the ecu is working properly
this is what I know...
there is spark
if your looking at the engine from the front the first plug fires a spark from about an inch from a ground second plug I have to put the plug almost right to the ground to get it to spark...Three same as one and 4 same as 2
There is fuel pumping because I can smell it...
The timing belt i checked and it is mint no skipped teeth..I checked all connections and even wiggled wires when starting and still no change....it fires rilly strong...just not catching...
i know nothing about cam angle sensors and heard it could be that..but even changing the angle it still doesn't start thanxs

hey man, my 1992 dodge stealth did the exact same thing and after getting the ecu rebuilt twice and checking everything I knew how...I finally gave in and took it to a dealership to find out what was wrong with it...and they told me that the ecu still isnt telling the injectors to fire when i turn the key...so the company that fixed it must have missed something...anyway, i should get the ecu back for the third time in a few days...ill let u know if it finally works this time

Hey dude.....sorry to hear that man. You know you should check your ecu first. If this doesn't fix it when you put in another one i would recommend checking your head ie your valvetrain. These cars are known for having problems with the head blowing due to you timing slipping or such. I would also check the cam angles (which you said you did).
You said that there is spark and fuel but the engine is not cranking......this could be (ecu *hopefully* or it could be your head which is bent valves etc, which requires a head rebuild....if you install it give or take a 2 hour installation timeframe and you'll be up and running again. Tell me how it turns out. Lemme jus tell you, i am new to this DSM world.....i thought rx-7's gave trouble but the eclipse's have MORE.....be prepared to have alot of downtime with her.....but it'll be worth it-trust me-....... :thumb:

haha sorry man I am no rookie here I have had my dsm since 98 I have seen all the problems and have had an ecu fail before... the head is not blown forsure...Im guessing its the ecu but don't have anouther to try in it... is there a way to test the ecu to make sure it is workin proper? thanxs...
