Car wants to die if left on for a bit

Hey guys, I have a 92 Tsi which runs about perfect except I have fuel cut off. I work delivering pizzas in Chicago and since its about 25 degrees here at night, I leave my car on when I drop off a pizza. When I come back, somethimes my car will be dead, or idling like a wheezing asthmatic, goin from around 400-1k rpm. Any idea what it could be? I have cheap new plugs and wires and also air filter. This problem only happens when left idling by itself. Thanks in advance, and if you live in Chicago, lets meet up!!!

It sounds like you have a nasty vacuum leak.. Do a leak down test. It could just be missing and not a problem with your fuel system.

OK how do I perform this test? I have an aftermarket boost gauge, and when the car does this, the boost goes up and down. from like 20 vacuum to about 13 vacuum. Any one in chicago have one of these testers? I can pay to borrow it if you liike

Idk to be honest widcha man....I dont see too many out here.....the ones I do see are paisa owned and are ###d up . I dont think its the ecu ### my guy sold me this one ### my old one was fried... do u have the tool to do the boost leak test?

I have had a similar problem in the past. it can be a few things vacuum leak should be the first thing to check. If you don't have one then check you Idle air control valve or the ports for it in the Throttle body, sometimes you can get build up in there and it acts up. They can be pricey so if you have a extra used one that you know works, or a get buddy who can let you borrow one for the few minutes it would take to check try it out. Chances are though that its a vacuum leak.

Ok I will try to check for VAC leak, but Idk hwo to make that thing to check it...I did research, but it says I need a coupler for like 2.5 to 1.5 inch? I dont really ge tit. then I need pvc and to drill a hole the attach a nipple thing and a biek pump?
