Car throws check engine light and wont rev past 5500 and on start up jumps to 3500, and wants to die if i dont give it some gas or keep the revs past 1500. What is the deflection for the timming belt, i cant seem to get it to tighten when it has good amount of side to side and has slack in the spots it should not.

How can i cheack the check engine light with no ohm meter, can i use a small bulb and wire?

When started car revs to 3500 and stays for a few seconds and then goes between 1500 and 2500 then if i dont give it gas it dies, how do i fix this?

Timming belt is lose but tensioner is to the spec what the haynes book says it (which is 3.8 and 4.5)that it good though it has a lil side to side play and as a good amount of slack in between the cams and cam and oil pump/balance shaft/crank what to do and how do i fix this?

I have not been into DSM for a while and i forgot most of the useful stuff any help is thankful

at first it sounded like you had a boost leak and your tps was off, but dont take my word for it. lets wait for a guy with more knowledge and see what they say...

Boost leak. Find your leak, and that should take care of it. I had the same problem in my 91, the idle screw was where my leak was coming from. Make sure you have the little rubber seal around the screw. But test for a boost leak, sounds like it might be a pretty big one. Might be an intercooler pipe or something loose.
