1G auto turbo Wont rev past 3500

Ok A friend of mine just got a 1g fwd turbo auto and is having some problems. The car starts fine but the isc wont stop adjusting. The car wont rev past 3500 and when it hits 3500 it sounds like its hitting the rev limiter. We replaced the isc with one I had that was known to be good. We also changed the fpr with another stock 1g unit I had and ran the fpr vacuum right off the intake. But none of that helped any ideas?? I know the 1G's have the ecu issues with the caps but that causes the car not to run at all right??

Does the car build boost when it hits 3500 rpm?

If it does then check the transistor pack, located on the intake manifold by the timing cover. If the connector is corroded it will cause all kinds of issues.

If the privous owner installed a high pressure fuel pump and rewired the fuel pump, but kept the stock fpr, it will cause the car to not rev past a certain rpm and build boost under no load also.

Those are the only two issues i have had that would make the car not rev past a certain rpm.

Oh, check for major boost leaks, like a blown intake tube or coupler. That could also cause your problem, because the ecu would not see the correct air flow.

Sounds like the car jumped time. pull the timing belt cover off and verify base timing is correct.

Thanks for all the ideas I will get a hold of him and have him check. As far as the fuel pump the car is totally stock as far as I know.
