car wont rev past 3500 and loses power

Excactly what the title says but with a twist, at the moment car has no turbo between header and intake pipeing. Anytime I go to start , it misses like crazy for the first few seconds, until it reaches 1k, then it will not rev past 3500 no matter how you work the pedal. If you give it more than 5 to 10 percent throttle it will just fall on its face, like its not getting spark. Timing is dead on, brand new ngk gapped at .028. Car has a list of mods but nothing has been changed except new head gasket. Could this be maf related or cas, or just because no turbo attached? Kinda stumped.

Your car is expecting a certian amount of air to be FORCED into the intake. Removing the turbo has eliminated that. You need the turbo installed before you can tell what is really going on, or you need to install a N/A ECU and MAF. Then it may at least run, but it will be poorly because of the low compression and the way too big injectors

Thanks for the quick response. I kinda thought that so yesterday I hooked up a variable speed duct fan to the piping to simulate the turbo to see if I could get different results, but nothing. I tried everything from 10 cfm up to 250 cfm and noticed no change. I've heard a lot say boost leaks but is this considered a boost leak? My maf is next to the tb elbow so I wouldn't think its reading air wrong. I only lean towards soething electrical because it will act like its losing spark or fuel and completely try to die after 3k free revving.

This made me laugh . Yeah it definitely has to do with not having a turbo installed. Like said above he is right.

You have injectors that are almost double the output they should be, a MAF that is expecting air to be pulled through it at a high velocity that the fans you connected, and an ECU setup for forced air induction. You are in high danger of washing your cylinder walls down with fuel, gassing your oil and spinning bearings. Turn off the key and put it somewhere you can't access until you get a turbo. You are going to destroy the motor unless you get a N/A Maf, ECU and Injectors and live with low compression, 1970's power.

Alright thanks for the super quick replys. Was only starting car to test new oil, water, and fp gauges. Didn't realize I was doing harm to my car, yikes. Will wait for my bep housing to come in before I start turning the key again.

Mine wouldn't rev past 1500rpms but my fuel filter was clogged. But without the turbo being on, that definitely has something to do with it.

Turns out the maft I am running had gotten water in it somehow and was shorting out. After I dried it out, car ran like a champ, even without a turbo. Idled fantastic, revved to the moon. Of course I altered the safc but I got done what i needed to get done without the turbo in the car
