Car stalls immediately on start - 95 Eclipse GS-T

Here is a puzzle for you guys:

I replaced my valve cover gasket on my '95 Eclipse GS-T the other day. Everything seems to go smoothly. I went for test drive to a local store and the engine ran as normal. Then after shopping for a bit, the car wouldn't start at all.

Battery is fine, but on start, the engine putters for a few seconds, then stalls and dies. I can't get past this point. All the while, car shakes quite a bit. Also, once I heard a *pop* from the muffler (as if too much gas was going through).

Any ideas? Any help would be mucho appreciated!

...too much gas? or no spark to light it? Check your plugs and wires, that's the only thing you would have messed with on a VC gasket change as long as you didn't go poking around anywhere else at the same time. good luck.
