something like this has been talked about but my symptoms are different.
My car use to be able to drive but it would die most of the time about 10min in driving or just randomly.
Now my car will start and die immediatly on me from I am sure me messing with these two wires by touching them to my battery and DVOM them to check for current or voltage and got sparks from one (black) touching to ground or power and the other (red) nothing.
I am pretty sure it has been dieing due to these wires just being open and not connected to anything if anyone has an idea were these go or what they are for that would be great

I have no idea , the cam angle sensor wires colors do not match those
- also the i can use a DVOM to check the voltage from the black unkown wire to the battery + and get -12.1 V and the red unkown wire to positive and get a -9.6 V. does this mean anything

coolant temp sensor maybe? my car did the same start up and die thing when i broke one of those wires off on accident. just a thought.

the wires seem to lead into the ECU somewhere
and yeah a check engine light only when the car is started and a scan tool wont pick that up
if i hold the gas and rev it the car will stay running but dies the second i let off

Remember guys he is NT. Those wires should be in a loom with other wires in the same area. What do those other connectors plug into? You need to check every connector in that area that the wire can reach to and see if there are any missing the wires.

I found a sensor that has the two wires exact same color wires attachted to a sensor into the transaxle so does those two wires go from the sensor into the ECU and out to the open wires that are suppose to connect to something

Why won't the scan tool tell you what it is? The car is supposed to be in the ON key position, not actually running. If the lights on and a sensor isn't connected, there's no reason a scan tool shouldn't tell you what's going on.

And I wouldn't go turning idle screws... That won't do anything but mess up his current settings and bandaid whatever the real issue is.

when the car is in the ON position and not started the check engine light is not on it is only on when the car is started, would a sensor of the transaxle not being connected to anything cause my car to die randomly?

Youre not listening... Hook the scan tool up like I told you. Don't worry about the light not being on at the time. I'm not sure which sensor youre talking about. Are you auto or manual? Reverse sensor... Speed sensor. If the wires of the sensor are torn off, and match the same colors as the torn off wires, why not just hook it back up and see what happens? What are the chances they DONT belong to eachother?

Checking the cel will tell you what sensor it is.

do you know how to jump the ecu to flash the code because I went to O'reillys and they couldn't get a scan tool to pick anything up and they told me the only way to get that code out would be to jump the connections on the OBD II and flash the code out
the sensor is plugged in and the amount of wire that comes off of that is all i can find but don't know where they lead and it could be speed sensor because my speedometer doesn't work

Lmao, no. They're thinking youre an OBD1. Those you need to jump-flash the code. 95 and earlier. Go to another place or buy your own scan tool. They're cheap, like 30-50 dollars depending on how fancy you want to get. Obd1 instructions

ECU Code Checking

In the talon chilton book it says to scan tool my car you need to plug in a connector to the 12 pin with the 16 pin to read a code I think that was their problem, they didn't have the 12 pin and told me to go to a manufacture for it, or you can flash the code by cycleing the key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within 5 seconds and it will flash so ill try both and see what I get

ill put one on my account, i couldn't get a code by cycling my key

I tried the on off on off on and nothing happend, will it work all the time if there is a check engine light on only when started or does it work some of the time and a scan tool should be used?

It should flash no matter what. If theres no code, I believe it flashes to tell you there are no codes.

I should have asked --- did you do anything to the car recently? Any mods that would have caused this? Disconnected anything or added anything new?

well my car started with a random dying every now and then and pulled the valve cover off and found a broken and off intake valve roller rocker so i lifted the cam up and put in the new one and my car drove a little better but would still die randomly then i started to mess with those wires thinking they could be causing it and now my car dies immediatly after start up

Not sure what could happen hoping there is no permanent valve damege and also i got a new ecm for my car if that would make a difference..... I was able to scan tool it with the old ECM in it and now can't, got the new one because a friend of mine had the same problem, car dieing on him, and a new ecm fixed his problem

Do you have any abnormal noise when the engine is running that may suggest any internal damage? Have you tried to run the car with the new ecu? I wouldn't just start throwing money into parts if you haven't got a diag yet.
