I tryed searching for weeks and now i decieded i would post and ask for help. my 99 420a GS the timing belt snapped its at 163k not bad for never being replaced. since then i pulled the head off the pistons didnt get knicked to bad i changed all 16 valves, i didnt put new valve seats in. i oiled the valves before i installed though, i cleaned the pistons up by sanding them a little, then i started putting back together i put new tensioners on and a water pump, i then had the car together it wouldnt start i looked into see if my timing was right because i was a little sceptical when i was trying to do it late and night very tired, i had the one cam 180 degrees off i thought the 2 cams had to point at eachother turns out they both have to point to the left i made sure the crank was also lined up anyway the second time i did it i roated the motor like 10 times checking it everytime, there lined up, now the car runs, great right? wrong. it will idle around 1k i rev it up a little the idle drops to like 200rpms or so and is shaking the car, there is a popping out of the exhaust occasioanlly its quite and pops every couple seconds, the car normally will catch itself and rev back up when it is idling poorly, but when i drive and i approach a stop holding in the clutch and hit the brakes hard the car stalls, i restart normally having to pump the gas for it work, ive been driving this around for a couple days now and its not going away like i wish it would. the car drives fine other wise that coming to a stop am pullling out, i can get up to highway speeds with no problems and maintane them.. i also changed the oil right when i finished the build..
