Hey everyone, I have a 99 GSX eclipse. Recently at higher speeds like on the freeway (freeway speeds) I can hear a slight chirping that goes in and out where I can hear it then it goes away then it comes back again. Also, it doesn't seem like I have as much power with acceleration. It could be just be me, but what do you guys think this sound is?

Is it a chirping or a whistling? How much boost, what RPM? More info is needed but off the top off my head, just for an idea, I would say do a boost leak test. High pitched whistling or chirping from the engine bay is sometimes indicative of a vaccuum/ boost leak.

at high speeds it sounds like a chirping but when I give her gas in low gears it sounds like a whistling. i put her in neutral and coasted and gave it gas to listen to the engine and the engine sounds awesome and the engine vacuum gauge is steady at 20 lb.

I do have a 16G turbo and it is boosting at around 20 psi. However, I've also noticed the boost is not nearly as responsive because it takes longer for it to boost. Another thing is when I drive at higher speeds there is a big wobble. I just got home again and its 2:30 am so I haven't been able to take a good look at it, but tomorrow I will. Is the wobbling some sort of tubing that is dangling around?

All of this happened today by the way at the same timeish ;)

Ya the BOV was loose and the exhaust manifold gasket was tearing out after a bolt fell out. Thanks for your help
